^Anyway we're innocent until found guilty in the UK, unless of course you're an asylum seeker^
Yes, and until the Human Rights Act is abolished by Farage et al.
And replaced by a new sort.
More than 100,000 people in central London have joined a march organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson
I ll say no more it’s devastating for this country

Oreo , were you there as well ?
It was the same with the marches in support of Palestinians, wasn't it? Generally peaceful, good humoured and people travelled a long way to show their support. The anti racist group out on Saturday was also not out to cause any trouble, just a pity they had to protected by the police from some of the rowdier elements of the Unite crowd who clearly didn't want to be "united" with anyone who was anti racist! I think there's a bit of a clue there about what this rally was really all about, don't you? Honestly you can put a crown on a pig but it's still a pig and TR can change his name (I think he's had four) but underneath all the "unite", "pride in being English" rebranding, he is still the same, Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon that he was when he was a member of the BNP, BFP, EDL and Pergida. His long history of fascist politics and long list of criminal convictions should tell us all exactly what he stands for.

I don’t think knowing the accuracy of numbers attending the protests at the weekend matter, it was a lot. Far more than I thought would turn out and I was surprised to see the Scottish Saltire and the Welsh dragon flags amongst the St George Cross and the Union flags. Some people had come a long way to London.A shame that some had to be angry and violent but there are always a few of those on marches, they go on it to enjoy the anarchy aspect.
Generally speaking for such a huge crowd it was good natured.I saw that as very necessary - having Scottish and Welsh flags there for instance. Necessary to make it plain - this isn't just England speaking...it's the whole of Britain.
You’re right, I think I was surprised that they had taken the time to come from all corners of the UK.
It wasn’t all about Tommy Robinson, far from it.There were many there according to reports from all walks of life.

It isn't the 'whole of Britain' at all. It's a few people in different parts of Britain.
AFAIK an awful lot of Scots want independence and welcome immigration. Many Welsh aren't always too keen on being part of the 'United Kingdom' I doubt if fluttering saltires and welsh dragons on a march with inchoate objectives did much for them.
It does nothing for me, either. I have no intention of being 'united' with anything that the leaders and speakers at that march called for, any more than I intended to 'unite behind Brexit', as advocated a few years ago.

I read that TR is due for trial in October 2026 for some incident involving two Daily Mail journalists.
His financial backers seem to be in the USA. Interesting that Ben Habib attended and spoke. Wonder how Farage will spin this?
Spot on question, ronib - Farage had banned TR (due credit!)

Rudolf Hess and Julius Streicher spoke at the Nuremberg rally. Did that change the direction they wanted to take the country towards?
You win the trophy 🏆 for the first mention of Nazis on a thread.Congratulations.

Actually that was you Oreo.

Oh I’m a pedant about these things, TR is at the most a neo nazi, whereas you talk of actual ones, so you still win.
Being pedantic Oero, you were first to post the actual word 'Nazis' on this thread.
Anyone who thinks that over 100, 000 or whatever the figure is on the Saturday march are all TR devotees or that we are likely to become a fascist State is just so wrong.
It was mainly a way for the British to show their dissatisfaction with the government on the immigration issue.
Tommy Robinson is standing trial again next year for threats against journalists who had disclosed the location of TR’s children.
Life in the UK is getting more surreal by the minute.

Being pedantic, the two names mentioned were Nazis.
😁
Oreo, still wondering if you were there .
No, were you?
It didn't matter what they called themselves Oreo.
They were people who wanted to and did, destroy a liberal democracy.
They were people who wanted to and did rid there country of certain groups.
They were people who devalued women.
They were people who thought riches and power were what they deserved.
They were a comparison I found apt. It seems you have no argument against that, other than personal attacks. That, at this point, makes me suspect you can see the truth in the comparison.
Oops. Should have added that they were people who wanted to take over other countries they had no rights to.
The other side of the coin was presented on my news feed this morning, by someone called Steve Lee.
As a 64 year old "Far Right thug", along with my 67 year old Far Right thug of a wife. We attended the March in London yesterday. I would just like to put what we saw and experienced yesterday out there.
We travelled for two and a half hours by car to attend. With fuel, ULEZ, congestion charge and parking, it wasn't a cheap day out. But we feel strongly that the country Unites, and so put our money where our mouth is and did the over 200 mile round trip.
What we witnessed was truly inspirational. An age range from people pushing baby buggies to people pushing wheel chairs, and every age between.
There was an air of friendship and a shared cause. Flags from the four corners of the nation, as well as Israel, America and many more.
There were ex service men in berry's and medals showing proudly. There were also the Pink ladies there with a stall!
We were held at the start until far after the official start time. But people kept their calm, considering nobody knew the reason, or indeed when we would be allowed to start.
Eventually we were allowed to walk peacefully along. Still laughing and joking in the intermittent rain. Nothing dampening the spirit or atmosphere.
Eventually we got to Westminster bridge. The planned and agreed route. Only to face a line of Police barricading our route. No reason given no diversion given.
The crowd having no route just started to disperse. We turned back down side streets to get back to where we started. We were effectively stopped from getting to the meeting.
Now I've seen footage of scuffles and am not denying that they must have happened. But we saw none of it. And without condoning it. I can see why this may have happened.
One could argue that the Police (bosses) brought it on themselves. Using the old "safety" card. But just to give the counter to the Guardian, BBC,Sky and all of the other usual suspects. What we saw were families (trying) to exercise their right to protest. And the establishment doing all they could to disrupt and stop it.
Like many, many others, shamefully, we couldn't get to the speeches. But we didn't riot or "kick off" because we're NOT far right. Just Right.
Instead, having done our bit. We made our way back to the car and drove two and a half hours back home.
So please don't believe all you see on msm. As usual, they are exaggerating and twisting everything to fit their agenda. It wasn't about T.R. It wasn't about far right. It was about people not being listened to by a pathetic, useless government. People that have had enough. So much so that they feel that the only way to vent their anger is by taking to the streets to protest. Only to be denied that right...again.
Thanks for reading.
Steve Lee
It’s as likely to be true as was the violence. The difference is, the peaceful part doesn’t make headlines.
The writer doesn’t condone the violence. any more than I, or hopefully anyone on GN condones it.
But it’s worrying that so many people today are unhappy with the state of affairs, whether it’s food banks, health, mental health, housing, education, overcrowding, or violence.
So unhappy that they’d even drive 200 miles to protest about it.
Nope, no truth in it at all.TR and his kind will always be just a niche group in the UK.
The British people in the 21st century aren’t Germans from the 1930’s and never will be.
The demonstration on Saturday was just to show their dissatisfaction to government that they must do more to curb immigration.
My above reply was to DAR and reading the account by Steve Lee fits what I saw on tv.Ordinary people for the most part.

It is a wonderful day for the United Kingdom. United they stand
TR organised today but not that many are supporters of his. All the flags from the UK are out there. People want their country back and they are showing that today
What exactly is “want our country back” Back from whom and where?
There were certainly supporters of Yaxley there and in abundance.
However, I do support the right for ANYONE to peacefully protest, so long as it it peaceful. I don’t have to agree with their cause, I respect their right to politely express their dissatisfaction and feelings.
However, it would be good to see some sensible solutions our forward to problems and issues and an acceptance that immigrants are not the cause of all our issues.
