4 of the 5 conditions are fulfilled.

UN report.

Blair must have been working incredibly hard with all his contacts behind the scenes to get this set up. Trump had to be persuaded away from his “riviera” scheme, and cleansing Gaza of Palestinians.

Blair was Middle East envoy, 2007 - 2015

Yes, and he has been in the Middle East ever since working with Arab nations. So he has a deal of experience.

And don’t forget Good Friday.

Yet you say he worked behind the scenes with all his contacts to get this set up , his experience had nothing to do with his appointment?

I have my fingers and toes crossed that the end of this war is in sight. Love or hate Blair, he is a strategic thinker and has spent a lot of time in the Middle East. I like to think that it's been to make amends for Iraq, which is such a stain on his legacy.

Babs03 Fri 26-Sept-25 12:00:01

I dislike Blair but any port in a storm, if he can find a solution to the conflict and stop the awful loss of life then he will go up in my estimation.
And yes he did well with the GFA so fingers and everything else crossed 🤞

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 12:17:59

annie It certainly did. The Arab nations have been working with Blair for years. And his experience must have a real influence.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 12:19:28

Netanyahu at 2pm I think? That will be worth listening to - just for the depression factor😡

I disagree, I think he was appointed for his experience not as you do, ‘working behind the scenes’

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 12:46:17

I am not sure what you are disagreeing with.

Blair has been doing both.

His experience has been recognised and respected by the Arab nations for a number of years and using this experience Blair has been working behind the scenes to bring peace 🤞to the Middle East.

What’s not to like?

I didn’t agree with you, I believe Blair was appointed because of his experience , you claimed “working behind the scene, I accept you have had the morning to put a different slant on it, end of

Netanyahu is meeting Trump on Monday and it sounds as though he will be tougher with Netanyahu to get this war over.

Babs03 Fri 26-Sept-25 13:22:32

Isn’t working behind the scenes and having experience one and the same thing.
Good grief, why split hairs when we are talking about something so much bigger.

I would so like to believe that, but like Putin Netanyahu believes he has a useful idiot at his disposal with Trump. He only has to promise Trump some kind of deal and Trump will be bigging up the war again.
However, am hoping I am just a sceptical old trout.

I feel some optimism about this comprehensive plan now. If Gaza is governed by Blair, who will not allow the Palestinians to be displaced, there could be hope at last for those Palestinians who are left.

Anniebach Fri 26-Sept-25 13:58:40

doctor who regularly posts diatribes about “Jewish supremacy” on social media and has called for the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Israel has been allowed by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) to continue practicing medicine while the General Medical Council investigates her conduct.

Dr Rahmeh Aladwan, who was also a member of Palestine Action before its proscription as a terrorist organisation, is now infamous within the British Jewish community for such claims as “the UK is occupied and controlled by Jewish supremacy – in fact, most Christian majority countries are”, and that the Royal Free Hospital in London, which has a large number of Jewish patients given its location, is a “Jewish Supremacy Cesspit”.

A doctor ? What a surprise !

Perhaps the Palestinian side should have a say. I just listened to a Palestinian politician who does not think Blair would be acceptable even as a transitional leader.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:02:24

Loud speakers have been put up facing Gaza to broadcast Netanyahus speech.

Talk about rubbing noses in it.

Yes that is the real issue I think. They mistrust Blair for the reasons I outlined above.

But sometimes you have to compromise.

There is also a plan put together by France and Saudi I think.

I don’t care who does it as long as the atrocities end.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:07:52

Blimey 90% of people have walked out

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:19:52

Not sure Netanyahu’s grandstanding is going to convince the hostages families.

AGAA4 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:24:29

Hundreds of demonstrators are in Times Square with placards saying End US aid to Israel and Stop starving Gaza.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:36:13

Fact checking as he speaks. Getting a bit like a Trump.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:52:12

The applause was from the Israeli delegation, and guests and visitors of the Israelis.

So a war criminal was allowed access to the UN but not the Gaza delegate.

Babs03 Fri 26-Sept-25 14:52:15

Well judging by what Bibi has been saying he deserves the Noble peace prize every bit as much as Trump.
It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.
Thankfully not much of an audience, most members hadn’t got the patience or the stomach to listen to his drivel.
