4 of the 5 conditions are fulfilled.

UN report.

A glimmer of light in a very dark corner of the world. I hope the end is in sight but there's still a long way to go.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 04-Oct-25 08:05:36

I must do some reading, I haven’t been looking at the news (a break from all the sadness).

Nothing at the ending of a brutal war is ever ideal, but small steps………..

The most important thing is AID!

Children’s lives will be saved.

Anniebach Sat 04-Oct-25 08:10:04

All wars are brutal

Wyllow3 Sat 04-Oct-25 08:42:28

Is that supposed to excuse anything?

Never ever forget. Let's keep aware of whats happening and keep this thread alive and watchful.

Wyllow3 Sat 04-Oct-25 08:47:43

its the image of the Mother and baby, but perhaps that empty square speaks more loudly.

Gone, erased.

Anniebach Sat 04-Oct-25 09:10:06

Footage of a terrified Shiri Bibas clutching her two sons — 9-month-old Kfir and 4-year-old Ariel — as they were taken to Gaza by militants is seared into the country’s collective memory.

ronib Sat 04-Oct-25 09:27:50

What monsters could have killed Shiri Bibis and Kfir and Ariel?

Maremia Sat 04-Oct-25 09:34:31

Yes, far too many innocent children, on both and every side, have been caught up in this disgraceful conflict.
Every child's pain and parents' anguish should be acknowledged.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 04-Oct-25 09:36:36

No firm news - but both Egypt and Qatar are putting pressure on Hamas.

Once agreed Hamas will no longer be an agent in the future of Palestine.

Israel has had nearly all its requirements met.

There is to be a 3-4 phase withdrawal of the IDF, and the interim authority alongside an independent army/law keeper will take control.

Maremia Sat 04-Oct-25 10:02:02

But how to persuade Hamas to give up?
When will the bombing stop, and the food go in?

Anniebach Sat 04-Oct-25 10:08:16

Hamas give up their control ? no

Maremia Sat 04-Oct-25 13:58:40

Will Hamas give up control? We'll soon see.
Has Israel stopped the bombing? Actually, no it hasn't.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 04-Oct-25 14:44:47

If Gaza is rebuilt and peace and prosperity ensue perhaps the protest marches will stop too. We can but hope.

Wyllow3 Sat 04-Oct-25 15:43:28

The protest marches will continue as long as the appalling bombing and starvation continues.

I shall never forget in the new 2 weeks ago a doctor from Australia reporting that the IDf were getting closer.

He had just given a caesarean to a woman whose head had been blown off.
the baby was born alive.

You think thats OK?

As long as this is happening appropriately gauged protsts should continue.

Once, if, the Gaza situation is resolved, which I believe to be the wish of all on this thread, although I can't speak for the Shadows, only those who post, in a way that satisfies the Palestinian people of all faiths, yes, the Christians as well, then there will be no need to march for justice for Gaza, as that will have been achieved.

Maremia Sat 04-Oct-25 15:48:57

But, as I type this, Netanyahu's army is still bombing Gaza.

I can never understand why there is not a ceasefire in these situations while negotiations take place.

Just STOP!

Oreo Sat 04-Oct-25 17:28:22

I’m hopeful for the hostage release but fear there will be time wasting from hamas beforehand.
This week is pivotal.

Allira Sat 04-Oct-25 17:35:00

That would be a start.

Maremia Sat 04-Oct-25 18:14:49

The peace efforts will proceed more quickly, when Israel joins in the efforts, and stops the bombing.

Allira Sat 04-Oct-25 18:38:05

Maremia

I think they are both intransigent.

Hamas wants Netanyahu to stop the bombing
Netanyahu says he wants the release of all the hostages.

We can only hope a truce then a lasting peace can be reached.

Wyllow3 Sat 04-Oct-25 19:30:37

Allira

I cant, either. I see no critical reason/significant gain for Isreal to continue the bombing and withholding of aid and more people dead whilst talks happen. So much suffering.

On the one hand everyone who want the hostages returned must feel why on earth is Netanyahu continuing to put backs up we want our loved ones home, and on the other we get yet more pictures of the most appalling suffering from Gaza.

😢

Maremia Sat 04-Oct-25 20:41:16

They both are, absolutely, but blame both, (not you Allira) not just and only the one side. Both sides are culpable. This conflict could have been resolved long before now. More of the hostages could have survived, fewer innocent Palestinian children killed.
