4 of the 5 conditions are fulfilled.

UN report.

A terrorist- I wish it was only one. Babs03 Qatar is housing Hamas leaders in luxury hotels and giving a lot of financial support to the organization. It’s fighting a proxy war with Israel and Israel has every intention of resisting. Why on earth wouldn’t it?

The US wanted Qatar to host Hamas in order to broker a possible ceasefire or peace deal. That is why Trump now has egg on his face over this.

Qatar is hosting an emergency summit over the Israel attacks on Doha.

I think Qatar is looking to move its money out of the USA?
I wish I could believe that Babs03. What a complicated web is being spun. From my perspective, I find it difficult to credit Qatar with peace keeping.

I bet it is. I’d be hopping mad if the US asked my country to host Hamas in order to broker a ceasefire/peace deal - and the Israeli government have always known about this - then they were bombed for their trouble.
Arab nations are now wondering how much they can trust the US to protect them against Israel - not vice versa I might add - in return for their cooperation in the region. With China and Russia in the wings looking to make inroads in the ME by offering Arab countries their allegiance I imagine this could become a big worry very soon unless Trump wakes up to the fact that he can’t sacrifice Arab allies and if he does so the whole geopolitical landscape will change irrevocably, with Israel exposed to far more insecurity than it has ever known.

No - Israel isn’t going to capitulate.

No - Israel isn’t going to capitulate.

It doesn’t need to it has already won the war - have you seen Gaza lately, from space it just looks like a dry scar.

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 13:41:01

I might add, it has won the war or whatever you call this tragedy, but lost its place on the world stage.

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 13:42:29

Israel has yet to demolish a huge network of underground tunnels and to remove Hamas in its entirety from Gaza. Not done yet.

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 13:44:32

Its own safety will take precedence over an imaginary world stage.

AGAA4 Wed 17-Sept-25 13:52:30

Israel is in more danger now than ever before.

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 13:53:09

I don’t think that is the mood in Israel.

Yes, and that is what many Israeli journalists are indicating, in fact given his “super Sparta” comment so clearly does Netanyahu

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 15:21:51

Japan sides with the USA and refuses to acknowledge a Palestinian state for the time being.

You both agree Israel was in danger before the war ,

When it will come to the reckoning about the Genocide in Gaza, my opinion will not be asked, nor will yours. On this forum, we are free to share our views and beliefs. On the world stage decisions have already been made about naming and calling it out. It is now a fact.

Maremia Wed 17-Sept-25 15:36:23

Israel is losing the support it once had, and all because of Netanyahu's genocidal actions.
Perhaps when and if he goes, that's up to the Israelis, international relations might improve.

Maremia Wed 17-Sept-25 15:37:07

Netanyahu is most likely safe, for as long as Trump is in power, but that is not forever.

They will never retrieve support to the level previously as trust will be completely lost.

It is an absolute tragedy.

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 15:46:18

Israel is in no more danger than any other country in the region, and probably a lot less due to a dome of iron, state of the art weapons, limitless funding from the US, nukes and one of the biggest armies in the ME.
The Hamas attack on Oct 7th was so shocking because it had never happened before, God knows why it did when Israel is
so hot on wall to wall security, but that is an investigation to take place another day.
Right now Arab countries are scrambling to protect their own civilians, not from Hamas but from Israel.

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 15:50:01

That was in reply to Annie

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 15:53:27

Arab countries are Hamas??

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 16:00:15

ronib

Arab countries are Hamas??

No. They’re not. How on earth did you come to that conclusion, are you implying that all Muslims must be Hamas?

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 16:01:59

Makes it easier to support genocide of course if one considers that all Muslims are Hamas.

ronib Wed 17-Sept-25 17:04:09

Arab countries have supported Hamas? Which Arab country has supported Israel?

Babs03 Wed 17-Sept-25 17:24:48

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab%E2%80%93Israeli_alliance

If you can be bothered to look at this you will see the Arab states that are allies to Israel and the US.
To suppose that all Arab states support Hamas is like thinking that all Catholic European countries supported the IRA.
Perhaps we should stop subscribing to stereotypes.
When Iran attacked Israel Arab states helped shoot down the missiles.
Not sure how they feel about things now though after Israel attacked Qatar.
