No returns of migrants to France yesterday or today.
(173 Posts)Owing to last-minute legal challenges and protests from charities.
Seems it’s Starmer’s turn now to sign a deal that literally ‘hasn’t got off the ground’.
Yet I hear there’s an incoming flight to the UK from France so Macron must be pleased.
And one coming back by return on Saturday via Air France.
🤷♀️
It’s a farce.
Papering over the (many) cracks. Expensive too.
Yes there was.
Apparently an asylum seeker from …India, the , so called, largest democracy in the world.
He will , surely, just be transiting at Ch De Gaulle airport on to a flight to Mumbai?
Did the French request an Indian migrant so they could send him back to his homeland!
Surely we could have done this??
Dear me I'd already realised we're ran by incompetent liars but this just beggars belief.

But . . . What about the environmental damage of flying that we hear so much about?
Surely we could have done this??
No. Our Human Rights lawyers wouldn’t have agreed to that.
A commercial flight. Already has paying passengers on board.
But return to India gets me.
No ECHR needed.
Try reading the treaty.
Who funds the human rights lawyers who fight the deportations?

Jennifer Eccles - well said. As I keep asking - what’s wrong with France? It’s a perfectly decent, safe country with bags of space for immigrants.
France has a higher number of asylum seekers than the UK. Many come from French speaking countries in Africa.
We go to France for a wedding on Wednesday, we are staying a week.
Honestly I really do not want to go and put money in their economy.
They must be laughing at us and I don’t blame them.
France is substantially larger than the United Kingdom, being over twice its size even when only considering Metropolitan France.
Farage is hardly popular in Europe. After all the insults he hurled at them I can’t see them coming to any agreement to help us. In fact he must be the most unlikely candidate to manage the problem. However, if he says he has can do it enough times there will be believers.
You should hear yourselves. It is such a parochial view to suggest that France should keep all the migrants who end up in the UK. There is no logic to it other than them not being the UK. It’s time to wake up to migration being a Europe wide problem and stop pretending that we are somehow a special case, for goodness sake.

Banging your head against a brick wall, Casdon.
Definitely banging your head against a brick wall if you have an opinion that doesn’t fit with . . .

Macron is laughing all the way to the bank. Starmer does not really mind the illegals, his pals get paid as "human rights lawyers" so he won't stop their nice earnings. Those invading economic migrants have heard about the Uk being a soft touch and they can't get here fast enough. It literally costs £millions and pensioners suffer because there is a 'black hole' in the coffers which Rachel from accounts can't fix so the state pension is kept low and everything that can be taxed is taxed. In our country they even tax you when you die, never mind that people have worked and paid income tax if they dared to scrimp and buy a house, when they die the government is there for death duty. I think we need a government for the ordinary British people, where the treasury ledgers are open to inspection and people can vote against unjust rules AND have a say on whether money should be spent in certain ways, vanity projects that cost billions etc. it is so easy to waste taxpayers money, they use it like it grew trees.

Quite, and we are an island with a navy and should be able to keep invaders out. Most of our services are at breaking point, social housing is like gold dust but the government has no deterrent so the boats keep coming, assisted by border force and RNLI they land here for the free perks they have heard about. France is safe so why leave it if it is sanctuary they seek - they have it in France, just not in a 4* hotel with 3 meals a day and pocket money . I wish we had a proper prime minister who cared for the tax-paying British people.

Tax payers but there is no legal aide for us, unless you murder someone. There is plenty of money for illegal invaders to have lawyers because of all the tax the government collect, income tax, VAT, fuel tax, corporation tax, stealth tax on insurance premiums, death tax the list is endless. A good number of the human rights lawyers will be chums of Starmer, can't let the gravy train dry up.
And next time keep away from human rights lawyers!
Another unthought hair brained scheme. Will they never end.
People also don't realise that immigration has soared by over 1m since Johnson brought in his dodgy visa scheme after Brexit.

Yawn yawn yawn! They don't get to stay in a 4* hotel in the UK I bet you wouldn't swap your life for the accommodation, food and pocket money asylum seekers receive.
What would you prefer border force and the RNLI did? Poke holes in the boats mid Channel?
Starmer must think we are all as stupid as he is. He thinks he can fool us into thinking he is actually doing something to discourage the migrants. He and his cronies want them here. Their long-term plan is to eradicate Britain as a white, Christian country and replace it with a multi-racial one.
Macron is rather busy elsewhere at the moment. I doubt whether he is paying much attention to the issue.
I don't really blame asylum seekers for taking the better option offered by the UK. It's far more attractive than they can get in France.
On a brighter note, DH becomes a pensioner next month, having never received benefits in his life, having never used the NHS (other than GP referrals and A & E), having been privately educated etc. Finally he will be receiving his sum from the state coffers in his old age, though ironically his pension was years earlier from France!
And yet we're now spending most of our money these days across the channel - restaurants, clothes etc.
Funny old world this roundabout is!
