Well what an address!
I agree with every word.
We have been warned, I just hope it’s not too late.

The UK government needs to be very respectful of Trump as President surely?

A change of president may well have unknown consequences for the UK? Our relationship with the USA is not written in stone?

Casdon Wed 24-Sept-25 09:38:56

The UK government gives any holder of the post of President the respect the post deserves ronib. Not Trump specifically, all of them.

You can answer your second question yourself. The future is a foreign land.

Luckygirl3 Wed 24-Sept-25 09:42:43

How sad it is that some people are taken in by this man.

ronib Wed 24-Sept-25 09:47:00

I am equally sad that some people have been taken in by Boris Johnson and Starmer too.

Trump pushed nations to accept his worldview, claiming he was always correct and touting MAGA hats that read, "Trump was right about everything.”

To quote him:
"I don't say that in a braggadocios way, but it's true”

To add to his multiple unsung talents(!) he has surely invented a new word.

So like small children do though, Casdon.

There's just one answer to that!

I think he is unhinged, and that is also the opinion of many people who are not what are rudely described as "woke".

Soon after Trump’s speech was covered on the BBC 6 o’clock news tonight. a family of illegal migrants was featured in their tax -payer funded hotel where, amongst other things, they were complaining that the hotel food wasn’t to their liking.

The woman was then shown in the bathroom, cooking on some sort of camping stove having first sealed off the smoke alarm in the bedroom. 😮

Donald Trump is certainly correct when he said we and Europe have no idea how to stop illegal migration,

Malnitrition is common in the so called hotels, rickets has reappeared. Food is often inedible. A sensible idea may have been to use the skills people bring with them. They could prepare food, but of course they are not permitted.

Do you think Jennifer that the use of Hotels may infact have been a deliberate attempt to stir up the sort of hate which now stalks the land?

It was a BBC report, StripeyGran
Are you saying that the BBC is now stirring up hate?

It must be very boring living in a hotel room and the food offered may not be of the type that people from other countries are used to.

If there are people in the hotels with cookery skills, why do they not let a group of them take over the cooking so they an prepare food more to their own taste instead of cooking dangerously on a plugged-in electric hob in a shower tray with the smoke alarm covered? It's a recipé for disaster.

Anyway, that has wandered away from the thread, even though it is an important point.

Back to Trump.

No relationship is written in stone. Trump is not the first American president, 45 men have held that position over the years and the UK has negotiated its relationship with each one to navigate its continuing relationship with the US.

Its the country and the continuing relationship with the country that matters not the vagaries of individual Presidents.

AGAA4 Wed 24-Sept-25 11:02:50

Trump should stop interfering in other countries' business and wonder why his approval rate is so low in the US.
My mum used to say Get your own house in order before criticising anyone else.

ronib Wed 24-Sept-25 11:11:20

Starmer’s approval rating is minus 47. Hasn’t stopped him.

Back to Trump.

Before we get back to the thread topic, I could point out that there used to be a fair amount of publicity about the awfulness of hotel and B & B life for our own homeless families placed in them by councils when there was no alternative accommodation available.

Stripeygran didn't say anything about the BBC stirring up hate, either. I don't know about RTFT, perhaps folk should read the actual words in a post?

The man needs a brain transplant he’s a danger to society
He’s a total idiot from an immigrant family who made their money from his grandfather brothels and don’t forget paracetamol causes autism and bleach cures Covid and climate change doesn’t exist
You’re right Grumppa men in white coats indeed needed
Dangerous man

I agree!

He’s an utterly dangerous idiot who spouts nonsense and appoints people who spread lies about medically proven facts, ie paracetamol can cause autism, and all the anti vax rubbish!

Certainly people have been taken in by Johnson, more so Farage than Starmer, I’d say, but I am disappointed in Starmer in some areas.

Maremia Wed 24-Sept-25 13:53:08

Trumplethinskin...it's all about him, and the folk who annoy him.
He blamed the escalator glitch on the UN. Turns out that one of his own staff accidently hit the 'stop' button.
That auto-cue problem? Again, his own staff.
He had a melt down later when he heard Jimmy Kimmel back on TV.

I was acutely embarrassed for all the non MAGA cult member Americans. He's appallingly awful.

That says a lot about you.

Babs you are right I wish Trump and farage would get married and live on a desert island preferable on a far off planet
The world definitely went to hell in a handcart when it made him president

Maybe Elon could take them both with him to live on Mars. I was desperate for the Raptures to be true as we could have got rid of a vast number of bigots on one heavenly elevation.

Maremia Wed 24-Sept-25 14:12:42

And maybe more about you?

LaTroisette Wed 24-Sept-25 14:16:05

You think Khan was responsible for the Trump blimp? Talk about I'll informed and gullible.

IOMGran Wed 24-Sept-25 14:27:39

Too much TDS on this thread.

FGT:
Apart from the fact that he hasn’t done what he promised in terms of ending the Ukraine war (ok, he can play his “that was a joke” card as he does when he’s caught out) or reducing prices, speaking your mind is NOT an admirable quality if what’s on your mind is offensive to others, and doing what you promised is not always good. If I said I was going to do a dump on your front doormat, and then I did a dump on your front doormat (NOT a thing I do, by the way) would you commend me for it? Because according to your reasons for admiring Trump, you would.

Read some fact-checking on his UN speech. Seriously. I fail to see how anybody can think it was anything but a major embarrassment for his country. So full of lies. Someone will be along to list them if you’re still unsure. Verifiable lies.

I imagine it is very difficult to be respectful to a man who doesn’t know how to respect others. Am no fan of Starmer but was glad he stopped Trump from bad mouthing Khan in front of him by holding out a hand and saying ‘hang on, he’s my friend’.
Was also disrespectful of Trump to bad mouth Khan in front of the UN, though many members wouldn’t know who the heck Khan is and must have wondered what Tump was waffling on about.
And was very disrespectful of Trump to lay into Zelensky in front of the world’s cameras.
But I think our government have managed to remain respectful towards Trump in extremely trying circumstances. Indeed they may not have succeeded at anything else but they have refrained from telling Trump to get lost, which I imagine is nigh on impossible at times.

Allira:

Look it up. Braggadocious is not a new word, and Trump didn’t invent it.

He did seem to have invented a new country, though, something like Abberjaiban - it was apparently at war with Albania. Well, Trump must have ended that one, because it’s not going on any more.

Well - He went into the serpent's nest and told them exactly how it is. Amazing! Some of those UN delegates would have been needing a defibrillator.

Trump doesn’t ‘do’ diplo-speak. But by gum he tells it as he sees it and I admire him for it.

What in particular? The climate change stuff? Immigration? The United Nations?
The seven wars he has ended?

Exactly… he’s changing the ‘helping hand’ humanity of what was the USA, into an Isolationist ‘help myself only’ selfish country, in the image of himself!
He LIES all the time … the USA is the “hottest”‘ country… don’t make me laugh (well I spluttered!) , everything in Americas garden is rosy according to him! When all evidence points to the contrary. Climate change is a hoax… yup that’s why heat and cold are ramping up, flooding ‘ like you’ve never seen before’ to use his own words, and as for the crew of malcontents he has attempting to run the country! Well, again, against all scientific evidence that Tyleol/ paracetamol is safe, he pronounces it dangerous, thanks to that crackpot he has as secretary of Health RFK Jnr! No wonder the Diplomats were rolling their eyes and he only got a smattering of applause, unlike other speakers! I despair, why can’t some people see through this Snake Oil Salesman. He also obviously holds a deep grievance that he didn’t get the contract to build the UN decades back, and he’s spending millions of YOUR money on turning the White House into his own personal Mar a Lago!
I could go on…and on…
