Will the Israeli government be investigated for war crimes?

"A classified report by a U.S. government watchdog has found that Israeli military units committed “many hundreds” of potential violations of U.S. human rights law in the Gaza Strip that would take the State Department “multiple years” to review, according to two U.S. officials who relayed the details to The Washington Post.

The findings by the State Department’s Office of Inspector General mark the first time a U.S. government report has acknowledged the scale of Israeli actions in Gaza that fall under the purview of Leahy Laws, the landmark legislation that bars U.S. security assistance to foreign military units credibly accused of gross human rights abuses.

U.S. officials, who discussed details of the report on the condition of anonymity because the contents were classified, said the watchdog findings raised doubts about the prospects for accountability for Israel’s actions given the large backlog of incidents and the nature of the review process, which is deferential to the Israel Defense Forces."

The above was taken from today's Washington Post. tbh I don't think Netanyahu or anyone else will be properly investigated, what do you think?

Delaying ambulances is a tactic used by the IDF. Keeping ambulances waiting at checkpoints so they can't get through to the injured and then forcing them to take a circuitous route to a hospital.

All supposition about the IDF and ambulances.

BBC have been allowed in Gaza , will they use the same alleged witness in their documentary re Gaza, he was son of a Hamas official

Oreo Thu 06-Nov-25 09:31:57

The BBC are under fire regarding their Arabic ‘arm’ for piecing together reports with clever editing and pro hamas stance in some cases and in overall anti Israel reporting.
Not before time!

CariadAgain Thu 06-Nov-25 09:38:33

One wonders if Netanyahu and his government can ever ever do any wrong in some peoples eyes. Presumably the settlers can also "do no wrong"....

#sighs

Oreo Thu 06-Nov-25 09:46:22

I have said many times that the settlements in the West Bank are wrong to be there, said it on all the threads about Israel.
No government, especially in times of war does everything right either but BN and his government were between a rock and a hard place after hamas decided to invade, torture and murder and take hostages.

Anniebach Thu 06-Nov-25 09:47:49

A documentary made by the BBC which they rapidly removed and they apologised for, surely not
Sigh

The BBC reporter is being escorted round by the IDF. She is not allowed to speak to Palestinians and only allowed in places the IDF are willing to show.
She will only be allowed to see things from the Israel point of view which is still censorship.

Thank you, after the infamous documentary and the filming of “kill the IDF by BBC the BBC are not trusted ?

AGAA4 Thu 06-Nov-25 10:27:12

No journalists are trusted as they will show a balanced view and Israel don't want that. Why do you think no journalists have been allowed into Gaza till now? If they had nothing to hide then they would welcome journalists.

Maremia Thu 06-Nov-25 10:30:14

And the reason for stopping the ambulance?

The BBC haven’t been balanced, that’s the problem.

AGAA4 Thu 06-Nov-25 12:13:19

The BBC have reported fairly on the war in Gaza. Their views are very similar to many news outlets.
Nobody can dispute the numbers of Palestinians killed or that their infrastructure has been razed to
the ground.
I understand that pro Israel supporters do not want some of the news coming out of Gaza but as most countries now are not happy with the way Israel has behaved and all have different news channels then the same conclusions have been drawn.

Maremia Thu 06-Nov-25 12:15:57

No, I think the problem is the violence of the Settlers in the West Bank. The IDF not preventing these unlawful attacks. Instead, preventing an ambulance attending an injured person. That's a real problem.

Maremia Thu 06-Nov-25 12:18:10

If the Israeli Government wants unbiased reporting, then let international media teams into the areas, with protection from both Hamas and the IDF.

Will try to watch it.
Thanks

This programme is not on the BBC.
It is on ITV.

I stayed up late to see this programme and salute the courage of those Israeli soldiers with a conscience, talking so openly about the unnecessary violence meted out to innocent Palestinians, by them and their fellows.
Much of this was recorded on their phones, despite Israeli government forbidding this. Easy to see why they would not want this to be widely shared.
I have said before that these young soldiers will almost certainly suffer the cost of this behaviour in future.

AGAA4 Tue 11-Nov-25 11:54:19

I missed that but will see if it's on itvx. Thanks Maremia.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 11-Nov-25 12:13:08

Frankly I suspect that what you saw in that programme is only the tip of the iceberg.

There are horrendous footage of what is taking place in Israel and West Bank by the Israelis against the palestinians.

History will not be kind to Israel.
