Hope can the King do a salute and not know he has dirty white gloves on ? ...he has " People " to make sure everything is tip top .. When he raised his right hand in a salute I was shocked ! Dirty gloves ? What happened ?

FFS, I always respect this ceremony. The last thing I would comment on is s glove.
We are honouring our war dead, and respecting those who fought, including my Dad who came back.
I find the glove thing so petty.

This is a great GN post Suzieque66

In all the ceremony and reflection about those who have served their country, you not only spotted something to pick on, but went back for a second look.
👏👏👏

No good responding to Suzieque66 anyone.

There's no wifi or phone reception in the dungeons of the Tower of London.
Or so I've been told!

King Charles was not on active service.
Andrew and Harry were. There’s a difference.

“…the two men who had contributed to the armed forces were of course absent.” ronin

You forgot to state “as a consequence of their own behaviour”!

Servicemen and women can be in the Armed Services for many years and never see active service. They are still serving the country, contributing to the Armed Forces and ready to defend you and yours if need be,

It makes no difference, they are still veterans.

the two men who had contributed to the armed forces were of course absent.
Your original post is still wholly wrong.

ronib Sun 09-Nov-25 16:50:01

Or public perceptions perhaps we should say. It’s just a bit ironic? Sad? Pantglas2

Allira Sun 09-Nov-25 16:51:39

No, not public perceptions, just yours.
But presumably you know little about the Armed Forces so your misconceptions should be excused.

ronib Sun 09-Nov-25 16:55:27

Actually I have had 6 members of my family serving- actively. Allira

ronib Sun 09-Nov-25 16:56:22

Not to mention 3 who died … so 9 I meant.

Allira Sun 09-Nov-25 16:59:46

In that case, I'm surprised, I really am.

Pantglas2 Sun 09-Nov-25 17:07:37

I imagine everyone on this thread has family having served/still serving so don’t start pulling rank!

In both the instances you mentioned, their own behaviour has brought them to this impasse, IMO. Harry with his bragging about 25 kills and Andrew with his lack of remorse on his vile behaviour.

I don’t wish to see their sorry faces at the cenotaph ever again!

ronib Sun 09-Nov-25 17:10:51

But I have not mentioned rank …

Anniebach Sun 09-Nov-25 17:13:13

My thoughts were of the dead and the grief

Suzieque66 Sun 09-Nov-25 17:14:10

no ..

Me neither.
Andrew might have been a hero in the Falklands but his behaviour since is just totally reprehensible

Harry put the lives of others in danger by his stupid boasting.

I think they should be removed from the line of succession.

No it is not a strange thing to pick up ... I have never seen any Royal saluting with a dirty glove ... Look at the BBC coverage again .. he was wearing a dirty Glove ...but of course I understand people have a blinkered view of Royalty and cant accept that they can make a mistake ...

You’re quite right. I saw it and was very surprised.

I thought better of you, Petra!

I should imagine, if there are marks, it's because it got damp from the wreath.

Just absolutely petty.

Most normal people at the Cenotaph were there to honour those who died for us to have a better future, and you worry about a DIRTY GLOVE?? There is something very worrying about your comment.
I don’t think I’m allowed to call someone stupid on here……more’s the pity.

Elegran Sun 09-Nov-25 17:57:01

Zoom into this pic. What do you see? dirt? A ragged hole? or an opening to get a tight glove over a hand which has been noted in the past as being swollen and sore?

Casdon Sun 09-Nov-25 18:05:25

I just see the King being respectful, not his glove, it’s just an incidental part of his clothes, not important.

Babs03 Sun 09-Nov-25 18:14:04

I didn’t spot this and wouldn’t care if I did.
Today was not about the King’s glove.

BlueBelle Sun 09-Nov-25 18:14:58

Original Poster is talking about the finger part of the glove which probably picked up some dust or dirt from carrying the wreath Elegran
So petty to even notice it let alone start a thread about it but hey ho some people like to pick holes in everything
