Sadly BlueBelle, you are correct. On both points.

We will continue to be shocked by headlines such as these because many of these men have been brought up in cultures that do not respect or value women. In my local area we have a migrant hotel and there have been 3 court cases to our knowledge all following the same pattern. Young men sexually assaulting young girls. Until this country has a Government that puts words into actions and starts putting British people first then these headlines will continue.

Could say the same Sago for the number of 'anti migrant' posts on Gransnet.

I guess the answer to that is "We have to agree to keep them - after they've served their sentence - and we don't". So unless they want to be stateless (which I reckon we'd have no problem with that happening to them.....)......

Yes. For example, we have to agree before UK criminals are re admitted to the UK.

It's international, based on the understandable concept that going ground the world dumping criminals generally doesn't go down well.

Then I, for one, would like comparison tables between different countries to see who has the most and the least that we'd like to dump back into their own countries because of being a criminal. I'd be willing to bet that there are differences between different nations and I'd also be willing to bet that "the poorer their own home nation the greater the chance of them committing crimes". If someone comes from a wealthier/more modern/etc country I'd estimate the chances are they'd be less likely to commit a crime per se.

Now wondering if I can find a table anywhere to indicate things like how many crimes a British person might commit in Scandinavia or a Scandinavian person in Britain and then broaden out to include comparisons between all countries.

I have my doubts that would work out fairly.....if only because sheer logic says someone would be more likely to commit a crime in someone else's country (if only because they wouldnt know the norms/have the contacts etc that they will in their own country).

We’re all one. The more we dehumanise each other, the further we get from the world we actually want to live in.

The more we dehumanise women and children by not looking at these issues the further we get from a world I want to live in.

I think we actually want the same thing...a safer world for women and children. Where we differ is that I believe dehumanising people based on their background doesn’t get us closer to that world. We can address real problems without resorting to language that treats whole communities as less than human.

Why would two young men who want to make their lives here in the U.K. think it’s ok to rape a 15yr old child.

To go on and say that they want to remain here, well no thank you very much, we have enough of homegrown criminals they can jog off back to whence they came…

My understanding of to dehumanise is that we strip a person of their positive qualities.

Well seeing as these two young men have exhibited no positive traits I approve of, quite the opposite in fact, my jog off thoughts would be for these two to "get the hell out of
here".

The life of that poor girl and her family will forever be a living hell.

That does not mean that I feel the same way about all others.

I am appalled by their actions here but nevertheless have found nothing to say that Niazal came on a small boat... he may well have done - but I'd like to know.

How they arrived is irrelevant.

They both came to this country to seek sanctuary/asylum, the went in to rape a child. They have abused the hospitality of the U.K., they have abused our laws and lost any right to remain.

My empathy is with the young girl and her family whose lives will never be the same.

Why is it so important to you how he got here?

Most links are behind paywalls but it was said in court he arrived by boat.

But I do believe also that we cannot tar all with the same brush, and it's not actually true to say they are of no benefit to our country. We need to look at them as individuals. some have a great deal to give us

We need a very rigorous assessment process, we are still talking the backlog

but one problem remains - how can we know/assess which young arrival will prove to commit such a heinous crime, any more than a young home grown citizen, unless there is known "previous". this goes for other offences, sadly, the big ones in the news where there were no "priors", from a variety of backgrounds.

Returning people is indeed a thorny issue and has always been. having been a "door knocker" for a political party,

I am so aware that most people don't realise the difficulty in "returning" people - they assume it's a governmental/party politics weakness.

I'll give you an example "send the boat people back to France where they came from"

I always ask them to consider - supposing a load of boat people were dumped back on UK shores by another country, or had aeroplanes landing on airstrips dumping people without our permission - quite rightly, we wouldnt stand for it.

Possibly it needs to be taken up viguously on an international basis, but you'll still get rogue countries who simply refuse to take anyone back

...and as I explained earlier - it was said in court that one of them arrived by boat. It was not said how the other boy got here.

That's 2 more rapes than we otherwise would have had. Send these offenders back from whence they came. We do not want or need people like that.

Cue for reading an article about this - and she was with "friends" when they dragged her away. Cue for "with friends like that - who needs enemies?" and that's her mind messed with in more ways than one (ie because they didn't fly at the men attacking their "friend" and protect her).

Not a good precursor to adult life for her for sure....

None of your post excuses the vile individuals who have raped a 15yr old child, and changed her life irrevocably.

The Telegraph headline says"Small-boat asylum seekers raped girl, 15."
They both crossed the Channel as unaccompanied minors.

Nit-picking over terminology has little to do with the seriousness of their crime, and the fact that feral teenagers living in taxpayer -funded accommodation are allowed to roam free, to the danger of residents.
Their barristers, (who pays?) attempted to prevent their identity being revealed , 'because it could lead to widespread public disorder.'
Fortunately the Judge disagreed.
Niazal, the younger of the two, is awaiting the outcome of his asylum claim.

Words do NOT fail me, but I do not particularly want my post deleted.

Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful. I am finding it very difficult to keep hearing about these horrific crimes being committed by people who should not be residing in this country. Anybody even trying to 'justify' as to why they should be here should give their heads a really good wobble. This is my opinion and while ever we have people even remotely attempting to justify them are part of the problem. I wish they would think!!!!!

I have been able to look this up now and there was no mention of how Israr Niazal got here in the court records, even though that is in the Telegraph.

The court record only provides his arrival in November 2024 and status as an unaccompanied child asylum seeker...

Presumably that's where Primrose found this info then - and turned their (assumed) method of getting here into a new thread title.

I don't know whether this has been previously discussed but I believe there is an expectation of "easy- going" sexual availability in Western Cultures. They think girls are up for grabs; not true of course.
I am not condoning rape; just trying to work out why.
