Just when you think Trump couldn’t get any crazier, he has launched his new visa plans for most countries including the UK.

Although, it would obviously be good to screen for potential terrorists, I think the measures will put off a good number from visiting the US. The new visa will require 5 years of social media history, addresses and emails for five years and possibly the same for family members.
Visits to National Parks now cost £100 dollars tax including entrance fees. To cap it all, he is to abolish free entry on Martin Luther King Day although it will be free to enter on his birthday!

Good grief!!! Thank goodness we don't own a property in Florida any more.

This will devastate tourism to USA, particularly the World Cup and the Olympics, I would think. I wonder how manageable it would be?

Elegran Wed 10-Dec-25 17:43:49

He may not be there much longer to enforce it. More and more peopl are resisting his pressure on them to make his puerile narcissistic wishes into court decisions, departmental policies, and international acts of aggression.

Plus he is clearly unwell.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 10-Dec-25 17:53:57

It has been mooted for a while that the World Cup should only be held in Canada and Mexico. The USA was a poor choice anyway as it isn’t really their game. I agree, he is obviously unwell.

I hope no one visits.

Smileless2012 Wed 10-Dec-25 18:38:00

Maybe no one will be able too Allsorts.

Remember a few months ago when Vance said everyone is welcome to attend the World Cup and the 2028 Olympics but "make sure you go home afterwards". The USA government is now very unfriendly towards tourists and it certainly puts me off visiting there again.

He is not immortal, nor are his 'laws'. Given time, normality could be restored.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 10-Dec-25 21:26:50

This going to do wonders for the USA's tourist industry ( not).
No doubt Mr Trump will be telling everyone shortly that tourism is up ""bigly"

Labradora Wed 10-Dec-25 21:39:38

I have never visited the USA , unlike my younger sister and her family for whom the US is their " go to " country.
Although I realise there is much to see and admire there, I have always been afraid to go because it seems to me that they are all "armed to the teeth" and I think it would be quite frightening.
If any other reason were needed for me not to go there , these visa plans are that reason. Ironically I have such an insignificant digital footprint that I could probably produce the paperwork really quickly.
Yup I have lived and think I will die never having visited the other side of the Pond.

This has been his playbook, drama and provocation, keeping his fan base cheering. Yes I agree he's clearly unwell but what does it say about his supporters.

Yes but he can do a great deal of damage in the meantime and his family will become richer and richer.

This will certainly damage the US tourism. Over many years we have enjoyed memorable holidays in the US, but no longer wish to visit. Our last visit to San Francisco, whilst being enjoyable was marred by the number of homeless people on every street. So sad.

Why go to America when you can go to Canada?

Beechnut Wed 10-Dec-25 23:04:36

Because my family live in America.

mokryna Wed 10-Dec-25 23:41:57

I am sorry Beechnut.

Homestead62 Thu 11-Dec-25 03:08:43

Tourism in the USA is tanking. Never been there, don't want to go, hate flying, so it doesn't really affect me.

I agree. Canada is a great place to visit.

I am not in the US right now, so I haven't kept up too much. But I can tell you that Democrats are sweeping what are typically safe red areas. 2026 is going to be a blood bath and what is so funny about it is that Republicans are gerrymandering their states (basically rigging the election by drawing lines that favor them). What that means is the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot and Dems will end up with a super majority in 2026.

They will impeach him and we will have Vance as President. Except he is rather unpopular, even with the Rs. 3rd in line is Speaker of the House.

Fingers crossed we get to have an election. He seized a oil ship in Venezuela today. So we may be at war soon.

Also, I can highly recommend Mexico to travel. wink

Seems strange. I thought all our posts were monitored anyway so our views and attitudes will already be known to the world.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 11-Dec-25 08:17:12

However, if it's a visa you're after, Mr Trump has a new gold card one for sale- a snip at 1 million dollars.

Democrats run I believe?
Not every ill is down to Trump.

That we admire the way he goes in to bat for American citizens? Putting America first. Not getting taken for a patsy. Trump has forced Europe to step up regarding defence, NATO contribution etc. I think Trump was sick of America being shafted.
