Cuba absolutely relies on Venezuelan oil, if Trump stops it, they are in real trouble. It will bring Cuba to it's knees but it has little in the way of natural resources, so tbh I don't think Trump will be that interested in it except out of spite!

He already mentioned Cuba being ripe to fall. He also threatened Mexico and Columbia at some point. And, of course, Greenland.

Someone upthread commented he’s only doing what the British Empire did, marching in and planting the flag. It isn’t the 17th century now. European countries have been trying to make amends for our colonial history, none want to repeat it

I am scared too. They are building a force to turn on us too (ICE). And there is nothing any of us can do about it but be prepared and vote.

It will only be achieved with diplomacy ( Greenland) and in the end Denmark may well give in to what the US want, they already have a big military presence there.

Maybe the views of his own people in USA will ultimately deter him from aggression towards Greenland. Even the majority of Republicans don’t support him.

I could half support him removing that dictator in Venezuela but the Greenland thing - he’s lost me now. Sheer aggression and self aggrandisement.

Greenland is a massive receptacle of a substantial amount of 'rare metals', increasingly needed for modern tech.

Climate change and modern methods have made it a little easier to access those reserves, hence Donny wants to get at them.

The "security" line is just the total twaddle that his admin are putting out to conceal the real reason for their interest. Someone speaking out from Greenland last night said they assumed the US was an ally and have been happy for bases there to act as a suitable defence and would not complain if those defences were strengthened so this is not about defence is about an occupation which Greenlanders are positively fuming about.

There is no regime change. No firm plans for re-building the infrastructure including hospitals 50% of whom have no running water etc.

Indeed, and I wish them well. But people should be careful what they wish for.
There were several days of celebrating when Iran got rid of the Shah, but it was very much out of the frying pan and into the fire for the Iranian people.
People should be careful what they wish for and whom they throw their lot in with in order to ostensibly liberate them.

I think I remember reading something about Trump wanting to be king of the world, the man's insane but dangerous.

This post is about Greenland. Any videos you are watching about Venezuela- are highly likely to be false. The People in Venezuela are in not better position than they were in last week. In fact they face more immediate chaos and instability.
