Either Netanyahu and Trump are stupid , or they are mad.

Was Hitler mad or stupid? Are some forms of stupidity a sort of madness?

I think they both have an ulterior motive for this war. Nothing to do with defence.

That is so. However my question was to address the wisdom or otherwise of their behaviour.

For Trumps motivation, some USA sources are suggesting 'follow the money'.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 02-Mar-26 10:38:43

That is exactly what I was going to say.

Trump - money and distraction.

Netanyahu - revenge and keeping out of jail.

In my humble opinion Netanyahu is not stupid in any way.

He has played the egoistical Trump all the way into doing his dirty work. He says himself that he has been campaigning against Iran for 40 years, and seized this opportunity.

Netanyahu is not stupid, just plain wicked.

Some motivations are led by reason.

Are the motivations of Trump and Netanyahu reasonable? or not? The answer to that question contains how the war can revert to diplomacy.

I think that they are both evil people, greedy, money grabbing, power mad!

Nothing they are doing is for the “people of Iran”, many more innocent people on every side will die and other countries pulled in to a war they don’t want.

I don’t agree with the regime in Iran (or many other countries) but these attacks, imo, solve nothing and are utter madness.

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Mar-26 10:50:26

I agree Cossy. They are both self serving with no care for the people in their own countries.

Trump is sending men and women to war; the man who lied to keep himself out of the armed forces.

Fartooold Mon 02-Mar-26 10:59:32

Totally agree with Cossy and Smileless2012 Things are not right in Iran but is war necessary?
Can’t make out whether Trump is insane and/or evil! I feel he has echoes of Hitler.

Graphite Mon 02-Mar-26 11:47:35

You can bet Trump and all the other billionaires have been buying oil shares.

eazybee Mon 02-Mar-26 11:47:47

I don't think either Trump or Netanyahu are mad or stupid.

Whether I agree with their intentions and actions is another question entirely.

AGAA4 Mon 02-Mar-26 11:48:16

Trump feels he is entitled to do whatever he wants.
Netanyahu is sadistic and evil.
They both have mental issues that psychiatrists have a name for.

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Mar-26 11:50:10

Both are entitled and more worryingly enabled which is why they're so dangerous.

Fallingstar Mon 02-Mar-26 12:28:32

But who can stop them doing this or moving on to the next target??
At the moment the safety of millions in the ME are at risk, including Israel, but we should not be naive enough to believe this won’t affect all of us, it will.
And the promised outcome of liberating the Iranian people is imho a cruel taunt, because Trump has since said it is to defend Israel/about anti Iran’s nuclear capability.
So I ask again who can stop Trump or Netanyahu??
And why, in light of this do we see Putin as the bad guy??
Looks like the whole world has a US problem that puts Putin in the shade.

Fallingstar Mon 02-Mar-26 12:32:11

Didn’t mean to say ‘anti’ in the sentence about Iran’s nuclear capability

It has been rumoured that some folk in the know have made money betting on tbe date of the attack.

Maremia

It has been rumoured that some folk in the know have made money betting on tbe date of the attack.

We were in our car Friday evening (6pm) when the BBC Radio 2 news reported that the U.K. embassy staff were being relocated out of Tehran and the Embassy was closing immediately.

So I guess someone in the U.K. government knew the attack was happening.

Yes. In view of that fact, how might a sane politician lead either or both those men to the diplomatic table?

Fallingstar Mon 02-Mar-26 14:06:05

Just read this in the latest news -

‘Hegseth won't rule out US boots in Iran - 'we'll go as far as we need'

Nice.

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Mar-26 14:14:26

The American people are just going to love that aren't they hmm.

Iam64 Mon 02-Mar-26 15:29:43

Will it promote the American people to demonstrate against their regime, like those brave people in Iran ?

Why did the Generals follow orders into an illegal war

Let me be the first to say, no. No we aren't. angry

Well, there are some MAGA minded folks who honestly believe what Trump does is a good thing, but those people are fewer and fewer thankfully.

Allira Mon 02-Mar-26 15:45:36

I wonder what it feels like to sit, safe in your huge, opulent office, ordering the destruction of people thousands of miles away, as if it's just a computer game?
Does it appeal to his ego?

AGAA4 Mon 02-Mar-26 15:58:36

Trump seems to enjoy causing chaos and distress to others. Firstly tariffs now a needless war.
How many families are going to lose loved ones because of this war?
