Awful news. This explains much about Meghan's estrangement of her father since 2018.

His son apparently reported him to the police in the Philippines at the time and our Met Police told Meghan then of on going investigations.

However the fact that it has taken 8 years for this to come to light disturbs me.

The man is now living in a residential Home in Florida.

I see once again we are witnessing 'trial by media' and what fascinates me BlessedArt, is how you constantly accuse those on GN who criticise Meghan based in what we know she has said accusing us of hatred etc and yet here you are, assuming TM is guilty when it's the article in the Sun that's generating an investigation, the source for which is his son who has been paid for it and according to his sister, has only very recently stopped receiving financial support from his father.

You also appear to be suggesting that TM's children may have been abused in some way. With respect to Silvershadow to say this is presumptuous IMO is an under statement.

It’s not an article in the Sun which has prompted the investigation. It the evidence Junior allegedly found and handed to the police in the Philippines which prompted the investigation.

Junior then sold the story to The Sun, after he handed all the evidence across.

Silvershadow

Some people will do and say anything for money Cossy. A family trait it would appear.

Indeed. Sad though.

TwiceAsNice

I’ve read his other daughter from his first marriage has said it’s all lies made up by the son to get money from the story. She says Thomas Markel has bank rolled the son all his life and now the money has run out he makes up this story.

Who knows? !!

It’s only the children that matter I hope it’s investigated properly

I read that too but then I googled Junior to see if he’d ever done paid work, only to be told, he’d worked much of his life as a window fitter in the YSA and only relocated to live close to Senior as he (Senior) needed care.

Aaah thank you Cossy, it's all rather confusing isn't it.

I agree Iam and it's just as unpalatable to see some of the assumptions being made about TM when no one will know until an investigation has been carried out.

What happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'.

Very confusing and lots of family dynamics.

Yes, he’s innocent until charged and a trial finds him guilty.

I am confused. Have we read that TM Jnr handed over material to police in the Phillipines last year when Snr left the home in the Phillipines, and they are now investigating? If so, then why was Snr being investigated in 2018?
And, for those saying Meghan should have been ‘honest’ with the RF, I’m sure their ‘people’ would have been well aware of events surrounding TM Snr.

It is confusing. Meghan says she distanced and kept her children from her father because of accusations made after her wedding in 2018. What were those accusations and what investigations were carried out? I'm amazed there wasn't more publicity at the time, and was he charged and convicted of anything back then? As the father-in-law of Harry, even though estranged, it would normally be front page news.
Of course anything Thomas Markle is shown to have done is none of Meghan's fault and she shouldn't be tarred by anything that is proved against him.

No good me trying to explain, I confused you all and myself ☹️😂🤣

I’m confused about the timelines. Did Harry invite Markle Snr. to the wedding when it was already known about him allegedly possessing child abuse images?

Prince Andrew was also invited!!!!

Newatthis Fri 23-Oct-26 19:45:09

Sorry -the 'Former" Prince Andrew......and to Prince William's wedding also!!!

Yes indeed, damn those people who (however ineptly) are trying to make their own money instead of living off the public purse, or being paid by your brother.

Comments like she knew for eight years and did nothing - what on earth was she supposed to do?
Behave with extreme caution with regard to family matters, both sides of the Atlantic.
Meghan Markle was informed by the Met in 2018, following her wedding to a member of the royal family, that serious allegations had been made against her father. I would have expected her to ask for the results of the investigation ASAP to prepare appropriate action if necessary; if the allegations were proved true there would have been an immense scandal, as there is now, although she would have been held blameless. I believe she was estranged from her father before the wedding; Harry was never introduced to him; his intended presence at the wedding was unexpected, as was the total absence of any other family members apart from her mother.
Her insistence on returning to America in the light of these revelations seems strange, as does the letter she wrote to her father, previously shared with girlfriends who commented on it in the press.. When he father did likewise she sued him, or the paper, possibly both.
Having arrived in America she proceeded to criticise her husband's family in much publicised interviews, books and film, while ignoring the timebomb hanging over her head. It seems she took no steps to discover what had happened when she could have invoked the protection she was constantly demanding.
Now her half-brother has exposed the allegations and received payment for giving information to The Sun, American version, about their father; in Britain it should have been confidential, unless he was charged.
Then the statement.
She has castigated the royal family for eight years, yet only a few months ago she and Harry arrived without announcement, apparently intent on resuming royal duties without consent.
Thomas Markle's activities are not her responsibility, but her attitude towards him is, and it seems strangely inconsistent. She has 'misremembered' too many times to be believed, and that is what has turned people against her. She cannot be trusted.
It is important that times and places are accurate to understand exactly what was known and what was concealed.

Having written all that, I wish she and Harry would go away and seek the life of privacy they claim to want. Wherever they are there is trouble.
