I suffer from a heinous complaint.- tautology. blush
How do I eradicate it? confused

Ana Thu 29-Oct-15 19:37:57

Guilty of what? thlconfused

(and if you've been 'away', how did you manage to post on other threads but ignore this one!) Weird...

rosesarered Thu 29-Oct-15 20:44:38

LuckyDucky what do you mean about tautology on this thread? We demand to know! grin

Lona Thu 29-Oct-15 20:50:15

LSS... Language and Social Sciences?

Alea Thu 29-Oct-15 20:50:27

We have tried asking and been ignored, just as I tried to ask luckyducky about her comments on the care home topic, but I was totally ignored.
AIBU to expect that a member might do one the courtesy of a reply? hmm

rosesarered Thu 29-Oct-15 20:53:29

There are some things there is just no answer to....I fear this thread is one of them.

Alea Thu 29-Oct-15 20:54:45

LSS is not one of the acronyms I am familiar with confused What does it mean?

Ana Thu 29-Oct-15 20:59:59

Having just read the 'Life on a Liner in the 50s' thread, I think it might be kinder to leave LuckyDucky to her own devices/reminiscences.

Alea Thu 29-Oct-15 21:29:08

AIBU to be scratching my head over this one? thlconfused

Bellanonna Thu 29-Oct-15 22:02:31

I haven't seen a Life on a Liner thread but I think perhaps we need to take a kinder approach for now

Alea Fri 30-Oct-15 10:30:15

I don't think anybody is being unkind in asking OP to explain what she meant when we are frankly puzzled.
If members can put themselves out to ask or comment, why AIBU to hope they might not be ignored?

I rather like the spelling as 'tortology' - sounds like a study of things that are wrong (French) or the bad work of a tortfeasor.

I don;t have too much trouble with tautology, speaking for myself, personally like... (oops!)

LuckyDucky Sat 31-Oct-15 08:54:31

Hello and thank you to:
ana, bella, nina luckyg ruby eleg alea.

Apologies to all who took time and patience to post something witty
or an explanation. smile

How do you remember all the subject you posted?
I don't know how to navigate back to the list of posters people once
I've previewed my reply. There isn't a face for feeling dumb - feel I've proved there should. sad

Here's an example, what is ON? Maybe I'm posting above my weight here sad

rosesarered Sat 31-Oct-15 08:57:03

So it WAS the extra gin and tonics then? A moment of mad posting? grin

Bellanonna Sat 31-Oct-15 09:06:18

Nice to hear from you LuckyDucky smile

Alea Sat 31-Oct-15 09:44:19

ON? Did you mean OP? (Original post(er) )
The emoticon you might be looking for is blush or thlblush I should know, I use it enough.
It can be useful to click on "I'm on" from the bar at the top of your screen if you want to look at threads you have posted on/started without trawling through all 50 Active Conversations
I think some of us are still curious as to what your first post was actually about?
Finally, please, please what does LSS stand for??

Atqui Sat 31-Oct-15 09:53:05

As this is pedants corner, dare Impoint out that some examples of tautology are actually pleonasms?

Ana Sat 31-Oct-15 09:54:19

It could be 'long story short' - that was in the list of acronyms I looked at - forgot about it, TBH thlgrin

Atqui Sat 31-Oct-15 09:57:36

Alea Sat 31-Oct-15 09:59:11

Thank you Ana!
And Atqui I freely admit I had to look that one up grin and among examples I was amused by

"A malignant cancer could be described as a pleonasm for a neoplasm"

Hello girls, hope you're all OK with that term.

Thank you for all your posts. nona's response showed the trap I constantly drop in or is it into? confused

Come on, own up, is there one who knows she has to check her post for Tortology?

Lots going down in our moat-less duck house.

Loved all your posts and, thanks for taking time to answer smile

I'll be here one day and possibly absent for next for a few days. sad
I'm not deliberately ignoring anyone, so please don't take offense.

dltbbb tonight. grin

Ana Sat 31-Oct-15 20:19:30

Well, that made no sense to me at all, and I don't know who nona is, but I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, LuckyDucky thlsmile

Alea Sat 31-Oct-15 20:20:14

Well call me unreasonable, but if I had started a thread, I might just be bothered to see what response I had got, clarify any confusion if my initial post made no sense whatsoever was less than clear, and answer any questions other posters wanted to ask me
#clearlynothowsomepeopleoperate

ninathenana Sat 31-Oct-15 20:25:34

BellaNONA possibly ?

ditbbb ?confused

Ana Sat 31-Oct-15 20:28:44

Apparently 'dlttbb' stands for 'don't let the bed bugs bite'...thlhmm

ninathenana Sat 31-Oct-15 20:29:55

Oh and BTW we're not all girls/females Lucky

Alea I think Lucky means the "I'm on" button but who knows thlgrin
