Welcome Bruha , enjoy your time here .

Only you can know whether to visit your pet , you know him better than anyone .

Do what feels right .

Hope he makes a speedy recovery .

Oh Bruha what a worry for you. You must do what you feel is right - it might distress him to see you (waggy tail) and then see you go again. Best of luck!

HelloBruha welcome to GN sorry to hear about your dog. I think we all know our own animals and know how they will react in different circumstances, My old cocker spaniel would have been upset if I had gone in then left her again, but its down to you, have you any idea how much longer he will be in?

It's awful, isn't it, Bruha? I felt the same when my cat was in the vet's for a week, but I didn't go and see him, because I couldn't bear the thought of him thinking I was going to be bringing him back home with me. I knew that he was being fussed over by the vet nurses there, though. It made it a wee bit easier. Welcome to Gransnet. smile

Hi Bruha hope your doggie gets better. We take in these lovely pets and give our love, care and attention and they pay us back with their love and fun and loyalty. At one stage I had two Labs [mother and daughter] and two cats. My last dog died at age 14 years in 2005, I found her passing so traumatic that I can't bear to get another one, though I do miss them so much. One cat fled in terror following our place catching fire and we never saw her again. So now I'm left with my dear little black and white cat aged 12 years old. And very hale and hearty she is too - only two visits to a vet for an illness in all tht time.

Thank you for all your replys I think as Marelli said I feel he would expect to go home with me I know that he is being loved & looked after at the Vets I've been with them for 25 yrs.
Until they find out what is causing it I have no idea how long it will be there is talk of a complicated operation seems it a fairly rare condition
My other dogs are missing him & and I get depressed when I think of him
I did th

Welcome Bruha, I hope your dog is better soon.

shysal Mon 07-Jan-13 16:03:59

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow, hope there is a simple solution to the problem and no difficult decision to make. Like others I feel he might be upset by a visit, but it could reassure you -a tricky choice! Please let us know how it goes.
I look forward to reading future contributions from you on Gransnet, welcome.flowers

Welcome Bruha I have two dogs and I'd be exactly like you not knowing what to do for the best. Please let us know how Danny goes on. As soon as he's well enough to come home you can spoil him a little smile

yogagran Tue 08-Jan-13 23:15:08

Oh dear bruha that's really tough for you. I'm not sure what I would do but agree that it would probably upset him to see you and not be able to go home with you. Most probably I'd leave him in the capable hands of your vet until it's time to come home. I'm sure that the nurses there would be more than happy to give you a daily report on how he's getting on and he's bound to have company. Hope it goes well for you both - let us know how he gets on flowers

Just a thought, and perhaps a silly one at that. Could you find a jumper of yours, or a blanket from a dog basket to take in and leave for him?

The familiar smells might be a comfort to him.

That's a really good idea, phoenix. I agree that seeing his owner would probably distress him [and you too Bruha]. Hope he picks up soon.

Nanado Wed 09-Jan-13 15:24:10

Great idea.

How`s he getting on Bruha?

Bruha Wed 09-Jan-13 20:35:29

Thank you for all your messages
Danny is still at the vets on a drip 9 days now, we are waiting for a specialise blood test which the vet had to get a kit sent to him and then sent by courier to I think Cambridge Vet Hospital hope I'm making sense.
He hasn't eaten for a fortnight The trouble is it effects the kidneys.
He is being spoilt by the all vets & nurses and I do ring up every day
By the way he is a mixer looks like a x between a Basset Hound & Springer
I do miss him he always lays at my feet and I keep thinking he is there
I'm getting tearful again sorry
Thank you again

yogagran Wed 09-Jan-13 20:55:45

Don't apologise for missing him and getting tearful Bruha - all of us who share our lives with dogs will quite understand. They weave their way into our hearts and really become one of the family. I quite understand how you must miss having him at your feet

Nanado Wed 09-Jan-13 21:08:47

Take heart from the fact he's being spoilt by the vets and staff Bruha

shysal Thu 10-Jan-13 09:01:38

I know we don't care when it is our beloved pet, but this must be costing you a fortune unless you have insurance! I look forward to hearing more about his progress in due course, come on here to let out your emotions, you will feel better for it.

Had a phone call this morning from my vet, test have come back its cancer and he was so poorly that we decided it was best to let him go peacefully.
I can't stop crying he was only 6 I have a 17yr old Shih Tzu Tommy who I expect to lose but still going strong but you don't expect to lose them so young. Thats 3 of my badies I've lost in the last 4 months.
Sorry its bad news

Nonu Fri 11-Jan-13 12:50:49

Oh Bruha , I am soooo sorry to hear that news .
At least though he is not in pain anymore .
