I'm horribly upset, I may even be harbouring slightly unreasonable feelings towards DH's sister.
As some of you may know I'm in the middle of a three month trip. I had arranged for my cat to go into a very swish, well run Cattery for the duration. No one in DH's family would ever countenance paying for boarding a pet, they've only ever had cats and another family member takes over the feeding while the owner is away.
Anyhow DH "let slip" the cost of boarding to his sister who was shocked and annoyed that I hadn't asked her to have Molly. SIL insisted that she would look after my cat along with her own, my objections (her cat is a kitten mine is 12 years old and timid) were dismissed. DH saw no reason why not and against all my instincts I eventually agreed as it was a kind offer, well meant.
I've just been told that three weeks ago my poor wee cat escaped from SIL's house and hasn't been seen since. I had stressed the importance of ensuring that she be kept indoors at least until she was settled and happy and I do feel that my SIL's attitude was a little cavalier. Having said that she is very upset and has made efforts to find Molly including going to my house 12 miles from hers and asking my neighbours to look out for her.
I'm distraught at the thought of Molly being hungry or hurt. I know cats will try to get home but she's elderly and has never been a hunter.
I'm expressing my feelings here as I can't say too much to DH as he now feels guilty for persuading me against my better judgement to leave Molly with his sister.
He feels sad too, he isn't heartless but she's really my cat.
Good Morning 1st May 2026 "May Day"
Tuned To 'The Archers' For The First Time In Months.

Cats are surprisingly resilient and very good at begging at people's doors, so hopefully she's finding food and she will be returned to you soon.
for now.
He was fine and must have been fed by someone somewhere.
