Keith, the new dog

What a lovely inspiring postjenn keith certainly has fallen on all his four paws finding you it sounds like he is full of fun and I bet you have many happy times together,who needs a cleaner home when a doggy cuddle is up for grabs.

Brilliant!! They are such fun and lovely companions. Mines asleep by my side on the sofa. Always by my side, a loving happy little soul.

He sounds a lovely dog, great that he has a new home with you. Cannot say I've ever seen a spaniel/Gs cross, any chance of a pic? (Our last dog, Springer, was re-homed with us due to a marriage breakdown too. She settled in very well but was sensitive to raised voices, probably seen a lot of it in her time).

Keith sounds like a lovely boy and must be so happy to have his forever home. Dogs enrich our lives in so many ways and give us a reason to get up in the mornings. Our dogs give us lots of love and fun, and of course work. Wouldn't be without them

keith has settled in well and I am so enjoying the long walks and chatting with the other dog owners.He is such a happy ,playful dog you cant help but smile at him, not sure about him with the horses but he will stay in the car whilst I muck out,although he is rather vocal!
Looking at training classes now he is wonderful off the lead and always comes to call but pulls like a train on the lead, might even have a go at agility as he is so full of energy...not sure about my energy levels though.

Downtoearth, I also know someone with a rescued greyhound named Bella, must be a popular name!

callgirl think it is quite a popular name...my last girl was a black lab called Ellie...I love the name Keith...sorry for going off at a tangent but animals with human names seem to around more I used to have a cat called Jeffrey...know of 3 other greyhounds called Sheila Stan. and Dave

We have renamed our lovely lab cross rescue dog; he was a stray and allocated a name at the rescue centre that just happened to be the name of our youngest son. Now he's Lincoln - Linc for short.

It's twenty years since we lost our last dog (also a lab) and I'd forgotten what a joy it can be. On Monday Linc is going to a 'playgroup for dogs' and we're very excited to see how he gets on. Is it only me who didn't know such a thing existed? It was recommended by the vet to help with socialisation.

What a great post. We are very doggie here and have just relinquished our beautiful guide dog pup after having him since he was 7 weeks old for a year. He has now gone to do his advanced training and will hopefully be a guide dog in 6 or 7 months. Anyone looking for a dog, not puppy, can always apply to Guide Dogs...they are always looking to home dogs who have been withdrawn from the programme or retired guide dogs. You are pretty much guaranteed to have a well trained dog!

downtoearth, our first cat, 1976, was called David. Later, 1993, we had a cat called Nigel, years before Monty Don named his retriever Nigel. We have always used human names for our animals, made a change from all the Mistys, Smudge, Rover etc names.

What a fab name for a dog jenn .

A couple who live across the road to me have a dog called Alan and silly me spent months calling the owners Mark and Alan as I thought it was the dog that was called Spike. I even sent a Christmas card
To Mark and Alan and Spike the Dog (with a little paw print after the Spike). They sent one back putting me right. I bet they had a laugh.

Keith sounds to be a real love of a dog. Enjoy his company. I hope he makes up for the pain of losing your other dogs.

As some of you already know, my lovely spaniel was knocked down by a van on Saturday and is still very poorly. I am missing her in the house so much and our wonderful wide ranging walks where she galloped around full of life and excitement. Dogs are such wonderful companions and, as you say Jenn , so good for physical and mental health.

Keith, who seems to have a better memory than me.After him forcing me to play fetch from the bath on Tuesday by dropping his toy in today he obviously wanted to play again.I left the bath running whilst I was in the bedroom and when I went back his saliva ,sodden,plastic bone was already in the bath!!!Cheeky buggar
