Our lovely Jack Russell, Millie, has been diagnosed with end stage heart failure. We spotted her belly was enlarging so after ruling out worm infestation and bloat the vet did an X ray and tomorrow will follow it up with a scan but we've decided not to go down the specialist treatment route which will be more than our insurance company would be willing to cover given that she's nearly 11 years old and we don't believe in prolonging a dog's life when there's really no point.
So, tomorrow afternoon I will bring her home for lots of TLC. We'll know when it's time to call the vet.
She has had a really good life, two litters of lovely puppies and owners who adore her. All our other JRs have lived well into their teens so I'm heartbroken that I won't have Millie for much longer but it's the price you pay for the unconditional love they give you.
We're having a pretty sh***y time chez merlot at the moment.
