Sooty & Sweep are gorgeous! Are they related? I wish you and them many happy years together.

You never forget about cats (or any pets) who have shared your life, and their demise is upsetting, but we always adopt again quickly so some little animal spends less time in a rescue and more being loved in their new home.

So i was feeling the same about should i get a cat or not. My cat passed away and i just felt lost without him.

My granddaughter suggested a site called Trusted Housesitters where you register and apply for house sites to care for peoples animals. Its great and I think it helped me make my mind up.

Go for it. You are young enough and obviously love cats.

I've done the "not getting another its too upsetting" & ended up with 6! Also got talked into a puppy then when he was couple years old just went "for a look" at local rescue & well along came dog number 2! Currently have 6 furry 4legs and love them to bits. Even end up with cats in our appartments when go on hols, think they know a mug when they see one. Hope a suitable match was made during your visit.

You have to get at least one cat. I really feel that a home is not a home without a pet. I've had cats all my life, and despite them dying when they reach old age, which is so sad, I would never be without a cat. Go for it!

Do get another cat. You will never forget your other much loved pets but the love for a new one will come. As we all know there is no limit to love.

I had sworn never again, but...….
Our two, George and Harry, were dumped at the local charity about 6 weeks old and brothers from the note that was left. When I met them they were nearly a year old , could not touch them, they literally ran up the walls of their enclosure ! Not first choice family pets then ! Obviously took them home.
Fast forward 8 years although never going to be as if socialised from very young they are living the life of Riley - whoever he was - go for it I say !!!

Megs36 I hope you outlive your lovely cat. If not, I hope that someone takes him in. I know that one of the cat charities will guarantee to find a good home, if necessary, if you give them a donation.
My next door neighbours are 'bereaved' regularly. They adopt elderly dogs whose owners have died, or gone into care. They have two young setters of their own, so they do two or three 'energetic' walks with them each day. They also do a couple of gentle walks with the 'old dodderers,' as I call them. They are a wonderful couple. Most of their time is spent caring for all of the dogs. They give them all lovely end-of-life care, which may only be a few months, and grieve for each one when it dies.

Please, please get another couple of cats. It will help mend your heart and give a much needed home to a furry friend who is desperately looking for affection. You sound like you have a lot of love to give so please do not delay. Losing a pet is tragic but time moves on and you are not eliminating the memory of your beloved pet. Kittens by the way are wonderful, so please do not rule them out, but I would suggest that you invest in a pair; we did after losing a beautiful and much loved cat,and our boys, Mori and Arty have been the tonic we needed and have breathed new live, fun and laughter into our house. Go for it!

I am 80 and 3 years ago adopted a 6 year old indoor cat- she is now 9 and gives us a lot of pleasure so I would say go for it

I am on my 4th cat now and, hopefully, my last. I hope we will both see each other out but my family have said they would take her on. I still grieve for the others, especially the first one whom I nursed through diabetes for 3 years with twice daily insulin injections. My current cat is so loving and loves my company, just like the first one, so I am so happy I chose her from the litter.
