This morning we had to say goodbye to our lovely little Jack Russell, Millie. She had defied the vet's prognosis by seven months and I'm sure it was because she knew how much I needed the special comfort that only she could give.

Yesterday though she told me it was time for her to go so I made the call that every dog owner dreads.

RIP little friend and thank you for twelve years of love and fun. We're really going to miss you XX

That's sad, as we miss our little furry family members when they go.

I've always had cats, but the loss is just the same. x

What gorgeous dogs Jack Russells are and your Millie was beautiful. I know exactly what you're going through and it's truly awful. I lost my Ruby another JR almost three years ago and it's so sad. My heart goes out to you. Take care xx

Thank you for your kind messages everyone. Millie will leave a big hole in our lives but thankfully no more in the lawn, trying to out do Peggy in the mole catching stakes.

We will have lots of lovely memories. I bought her as a present for DH but as a tiny puppy she bonded with me, snuggled in her basket, listening to Mozart while I cooked Sunday lunch. She made it perfectly clear whose dog she wanted to be!

Peggy is rather subdued tonight so we'll focus on making sure she isn't lonely. Sadly our cat Jazz, who was Peggy's best mate, went missing two months ago and hasn't been found. sad Our numbers seem to be rapidly depleting.

Thanks, once again. Your kind thoughts are much appreciated.

So very sorry Merlot. I know the pain that you are going through. I had to say goodbye to my beautiful cat on 5th November. She was 20.5 years, had diabetes for 9 years and some arthritis. She was my little best friend and I miss her so much. I've never cried so much in all my life. I'm sending you love and hugs xx

Hugs to you Merlotgran, sorry to hear your sad news. Our DS and DIL lost the older one of their two JR's earlier this year. Lovely little dogs.

So sorry for your sad loss merlot, I’m going through the same at the moment my 12 year old Westie Paddy is dying of kidney disease thankfully he is not in pain but the vet said he only has a couple of weeks at the most.
We have done everything we can for our boy and had all the tests and treatment the vet suggested, but that’s all we can do now is be with him and give him all the love we can and make him comfortable.
We can’t stop crying I’ve never felt pain like this not even losing close relatives.
I cuddled up with him and he licked the tears from my face.
I’m so dreading his final day, i wouldn’t have understood this pain before having my boy all those years ago.
Please tell me how to cope

So sorry merlot. I know exactly how you feel. We've just past the two year anniversary of the passing of our lovely little Parson Russell Wiser. She was eighteen years old, and just worn out. She is still missed.

Merlot...it’s a bit late, but I have only just seen this thread as it has been revived. She looked a lovely little dog, what a shame she couldn't be with you a year or two longer.flowers
Will you get another one this year perhaps?
Jack Russells are really lively dogs, great chatacters.
