I'm looking for any advice on the healthiest cat foods to feed my senior cat.As I worry he may not be getting all the nourishment he needs and I think he gets fed up with the cat food I give him.Just wondering if anyone has any helpful suggestions.

I have 4 healthy cats,12,9,9,6, I feed them a tin of sardines in oil once a week for their coat ,raw beef mince the rest of the time with a small saucer of dry food, Gain usually,,my dog gets the same except with Gain for dogs, occasionally I add raw liver ,and 2 like broccoli and carrots left over from our dinner, I leave this for them to snack on

My vet said meat should be prime ingredient and no grain in first couple ingredients.

Smaller kibble easier for seniors and may need to mix some salt free broth to soften if poor dental health.

I inherited a semi-feral cat who sort-of came with my cottage. I would feed her mixture of different types of cat food through the week for her good health & nutritional balance ect. However, Madame Kittywhiskers Wildpants often used to bring back a lovely bit of freshly-killed rabbit
from the surrounding fields for her tea! Sometimes the rabbit was bigger than she was!!! 🥴

I feed my two wet food, Felix, Hanningtons from Zooplus and leave also a good quality complete dry food such as Iams Adult Chicken overnight.
It’s best to feed them a variety so they don’t get bored.
2-3 times a week, I give them roast beef slices chopped up. Or roast chicken slices.
They love Dreamies too.
Mine are very active with bright eyes and shiny fur.

I love cats. We have twin rescue cats and they are quite fussy. They like royal canin and the Felix jelly . No other cats we have had have liked this. They are not so keen on raw meat unlike our previous cat. Unless, of course, it is high quality steak but that is going a bit far even for us cat lovers ! One of them is allergic to prawns, they make her sick. Very spoilt pussy cats but very loving.Brats!

My elderly cat 14 was losing a bit of weight and I think was getting bored with usual sachets -vet recommended cooked chicken and fish plus a little cooked broccoli mixed into wet food to help with hard stools
He has Royal canin kibble also plus plenty of water in bowls in different t locations to encourage drinking
Seems to be doing well

On the subject of fish for cats, my cat would have killed for a bowl of cooked coley. She prowled around the cooker while the coley was on the hob. That was when coley was cheap of course.

Our cats are descended from desert cats. They need everything which is in freshly killed prey.
Dried food, pouches and tins are all ultra processed junk food.
Your kitten isn’t leaving the meat as there is almost no meat, it’s cheap fillers plus additives, made to look like meat.
