I’m not a dog hater but please be thoughtful. Just attended a beautiful outdoor Carol singing event that was ruined by a couple with a dog. Constant barking and jumping up people, including small children. If you can’t control it, leave it at home!

Entitled dog owners
(12 Posts)I'm a dog owner and I agree with you. Our dog is very well behaved indeed, but I wouldn't take him to something like that in any case. A bit of consideration for others goes a long way, and it's irresponsible owners who give the responsible ones like us a bad name.
I'm sure the dog would have been happier at home.
Oh I’m so in agreement with you. Irresponsible dog owners who poorly trained and socialize their poor creatures. The same ones who probably are the people who fail to pick up the poop.
I have two dogs and would never even consider taking them to an event like that. As usual thoughtless and inconsiderate owners. That's a shame your enjoyment was spoiled

I’ve taken myself out to three Christmas events.
Number one was a street market/fair/ carols and open air entertainments were of varying kinds. Made totally hazardous duos by the number of dogs taken to something that couldn’t have been more unsuitable. Some bigger dogs were protective of their families and growled and snapped at people they thought had got too close. And the little dogs must have been kicked and stood on several times, poor things.
But the next one was a Charity concert by a youth group. Utterly ruined by two little girls who were allowed (encouraged?) to jump and shout at the front of the stage to the music and then climb n the stage and perform their dances and sing their own songs - whilst the youth group tried to carry on. as if they were not there. Occasionally the mother would also climb onto the stage to bring them down, laughing and saying sorry, sorry. And then letting them go straight back up.
Thirdly was a U3a concert where my seat was next to an elderly woman ( the same as me) who kept her phone on ( we’d been asked to switch off) , took calls, sent texts, and chatted and showed photos throughout to her friend on the other side. She elbowed me every time she fished in her bag andI went home with a bruise on my right arm.
Hell is other people …..
I can't understand why so many people take their dogs to the Antiques Road Show. It must be a long day for them with nowhere quiet to relax.

Me too . And it’s often a very hot day.
Im a dog owner and I wouldn’t take my dog somewhere really crowded , it’s not fair on them and not fair on those who don’t like dogs.
I’ve got a large dog , a Labrador and he’s well trained and doesn’t jump up and rarely barks , except when someone is at the front door. IMO it’s the small dogs who are barky and yappy .

Dogs really don't belong at such an event. Dogs are unpredictable with barking, biting, jumping. I say this as a dog owner.
I do NOT hate dogs I quite like most of them but I don’t drool and coo and cluck over every dog I see
Yesterday I went out to lunch with a friend at a garden centre Dogs are allowed in the restaurant ( all wrong in my opinion) but the two or three there kept barking at one another it was really annoying and made it hard to hear our conversation and one was shaking ( fear or cold or old or ill I don’t know )
Leave your dogs at home folks They ll be happier
My little girl never complained
There’s a woman near me who walks around with her dog draped around her neck like those fox furs our grandmother had The dog never uses it legs and she and the dog both smell wet doggy

I agree with Vice Versa . I don't have a dog at present but our next dog will be managed like our last dog , with love, responsibly and with full consideration for other people any of which , if you don't know them may fear or simply dislike dogs , which they are fully entitled to do.
I don't know who choose the heading "* Entitled*Dog Owners" but I would describe the behaviour of the dog owners rather as "thoughtless ".
The English language is rich and varied and there is a massive vocabulary available. Does all behaviour that we simply don't like for one reason or other have to use the word entitled. A curse on this laziness.

Give me a dog anytime! However as a life long dog owner/lover I would not dream of taking my dogs anywhere which would cause upset or disruption to others or my dogs. 🐾🐾🐾🐾
