We at GNHQ would like to find out a bit more about what GNers think about favouritism, and whether members have any favourites among their own grandchildren. Obviously this will be a sensitive issue for some - please rest assured that your answers will be anonymised and we won't trace individual answers back to individual GNers. All GNers who complete this survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher from a store of their choice.

This survey is open to all UK GNers who are grandparents.

Thanks and good luck!

I have two granddaughters who are twins so have had them both always at the same time. Their mother decided they would be her only children and my younger daughter does not have any and probably won't have them in the future so these will always be the only ones. Despite being twins they are very different and I love them and treat them just the same . I call them both ' my bestest beautiful girl'

No favourites for me. I have two Grandsons and I love them both.

I only have one grandchild and love her to bits. Had a friend who had two grandsons, she always said the eldest was her favourite, can never understand that. She also had a favourite child the eldest can't believe that either. Always treated mine the same and loved them both equally. When my son died my heart was broken, how would she feel in my that situation.

I have seven grandchildren, six of whom are boys and one is a step grandson.
As others have said they are all special in their own way, and I don't have a favourite, but I do have to admit I am not so close to my step grandson, we're both a bit reserved with each other. However, there is no way I would show any favouritism for the other boys.

I've got four grandchildren, sometimes I don't like one of them because of their behaviour but I always love them equally

Each of my gc is my "favorite" in a different way.

It is a tricky question. Always give same amount for birthdays and Christmas and recently money in lieu of Easter eggs which neither like! However one lives the other side of the world and I have only seen him 3 times in 5 years, the other is local and I see him most days after school. It would be impossible to have the same relationship with the distant one as I do with the local one. However I would never make this apparent to either child or family and make a big effort not to talk about the local one unless specifically asked.

I do not really have a favourite. They range from 20 - 6 in age. But I am close to the younger two than the older two. This is because my daughter works and I have looked after them since they were babies - so I know a lot about them. They are all very different characters, so I can love the for different things.

Twilight123 Tue 25-Apr-17 14:19:28

I don't have any favourites, I love and treat them all equally.

cinders59 Tue 25-Apr-17 16:41:08

I have 4 grandchildren and we treat them all the same, but our only granddaughter lives with us and she seems to get more things like treats we buy, but they are also for the others when they visit

kamoc Wed 26-Apr-17 12:41:47

nope, i don't think it's fair to say who are your favourites

1sttimenanny Wed 26-Apr-17 15:24:46

Well as I only have the one...at least at the mo, it doesn't apply yet. But when there are more, I would make absolutely sure to treat them exactly the same. I've seen favouritism at work and it creates nothing but misery for the 'non favourite'.

hulahoop Wed 26-Apr-17 21:54:46

renaplumridge Thu 27-Apr-17 20:23:35

I have four gandsons and i love them all equally. I saw 2 of them being born and i thought that would make them extra special but i can honestly say i love them all equally.

I have four grandchildren. They come over to see me every Saturday for tea. My favourite very much depends on how each one acts on the day. As my son says, 'With four children, one of them is bound to be in a good mood!'

That one my favourite for the afternoon!!!
