I don’t want to offend anyone but I’ve just discovered that my dh wees in the shower! It was mentioned on a tv programme and I asked dh if he ever did that and he admitted that he does when he’s caught short! I was shocked and I am no way a prude. What do others think of this?

Gabriella, I always thought of you as rather po faced. I revise my opinion.

GabriellaG we'll be getting on to the Mile High Club in a minute …..
wink

and, before anyone asks, no to that and no to the shower

MissA grin

It is definitely a disgusting thing to do. But it is a bit over the top to be 'shocked', surely? People do far, far worse things in this world.

Gilly1952 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:02:23

Ha! I didn’t mean he pooed in the shower!! Just played with himself!! I think many do from what I’ve heard!! ??

Gonegirl Fri 16-Nov-18 11:08:22

I'm not "shocked"! (just slightly throwing up)

Gonegirl Fri 16-Nov-18 11:08:42

wink!

Have you never been in hospital, asked to give a water sample and been put in a room with running water? The sound of running water is known to promote urination - it’s perfectly natural to wee in the shower - people do it when they hear the water so it’s at the start of the process and obviously gets washed away with all the other bodily exertions like sweat!

Magrithea Fri 16-Nov-18 11:10:06

Can't see it's a problem! Men peeing in corners of alleys, by the road, etc. is worse!

Gonegirl Fri 16-Nov-18 11:10:27

Anybody noticed this is now in "Discussions of the day. We know now what HQ think of it. grin

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:12:18

I bet it's on FB, Twitter, all round the world grin

MaggieMay69 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:16:11

Urine is probably cleaner than the water coming out of the shower anyways lol.

Most people do it! Its washed clean away, and really warms you up if you have a cold shower like mine! lol (tmi I am guessing!) x

GabriellaG Fri 16-Nov-18 11:21:09

Moi? Po-faced. Lol...never. Mine is a double shower, plenty of room and soundproof too. winkgrin

I've never been in a toilet on board an aeroplane. I have an aversion to public toilets on planes, trains, coaches etc. I can 'not go' for hours, all day if necessary.

FGS...it's drinkable.

Ironmaiden Fri 16-Nov-18 11:29:44

I don’t do it but really can’t see the problem. I’ve never felt the urge but if I did, wouldn’t hesitate! Sod getting out to drip water everywhere just to pee.

Nanny41 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:35:51

Ive never even thought about that, but in swimming pools I am sure its done often, maybe not by adults but certainly by children.

Theoddbird Fri 16-Nov-18 11:40:27

I think it is normal. What the hell is so disgusting about it? I live on a narrowboat. I have a cassette under my toilet that collects all the body waste...hahaha. I have to empty it every week at an Elsan point. Grey water goes into the river from washing machine sinks etc. I use eco products. This is normal for boats.

Mumsyface Fri 16-Nov-18 11:43:45

I read about an experiment, some years ago (presumably first thing in the morning). The result was considerably reduced water usage in the halls of residence.

Mumsyface Fri 16-Nov-18 11:44:59

Typo - in which university students were asked not to pee when they first got up, but to pee in the shower

BlueBelle Fri 16-Nov-18 11:55:50

I d love someone who po facedly describes it as unhygienic or disgusting to explain why and what is disgusting about plain old urine that goes nowhere but down the drain hole

kooklafan Fri 16-Nov-18 11:57:37

It wouldn't bother me either to be honest. I understand that urine has a lot of useful properties. I was watching the WW1 programmes at the weekend and someone said they used to wee in their marching boots to soften them up a bit. I used to work with an old chap who told me that if you have warts you should put urine on them. I was grossed out at the time but as I've aged, I've heard more and more people talk about the usefulness of urine in certain situations?

Talking about toilet use and poop, DH and I are in the midst of an argument right now because we live in a small bungalow where the bathroom is only a few feet away from the lounge. We always said that if any callers come to the door without an appointment we would tell them to make an appointment and turn them away, unless of course it was convenient. Well yesterday, I was using the facilities. DH knew this because I was having problems ( #2 problems) and I asked him if he wanted to go because I didn't know how long I was going to be. Well while I was in there someone came to the door, electoral register person? Wanted us to spare a few minutes to answer a few questions and he let them in! I was so damn annoyed that after she had gone I shouted at him and said "why the bloody hell did you let her in" and he just doesn't get it! Thinks I am over reacting because I said he should have told her it was inconvenient. Were not talking now because he wants me to apologise for shouting at him and I'm not going to! Sorry for the thread crap, if you'll pardon the pun!

Sparklefizz, the naval way would waste more water with our shower. If you turn it off, even for a few seconds, it starts from cold again.

Theresamb Fri 16-Nov-18 12:03:11

Lots of people advocate drinking your own urine! So weeing in the shower is nothing compared to that. Also urine is sterile, unless you have an infection, still wouldn’t drink it though.

sarahellenwhitney Fri 16-Nov-18 12:16:00

I have been a culprit and disliked what I did so now use the loo, if feeling the need, before I get in the shower. When potty training my two little ones attempting to get them out of nappies I was advised by my gran to turn on a tap This was supposed to give them the urge? Daft as it sounds but may be there is an in built mechanism that when we humans see running water it too gives us the urge.?

Sparklefizz Fri 16-Nov-18 12:19:40

Urine is only sterile for a very short time until the air gets to it. Probably one would have to apply the 10-second rule before drinking, the same as dropping food on the floor before picking up and eating it. I won't be one of the drinkers, anyway !
