I don’t want to offend anyone but I’ve just discovered that my dh wees in the shower! It was mentioned on a tv programme and I asked dh if he ever did that and he admitted that he does when he’s caught short! I was shocked and I am no way a prude. What do others think of this?

The Romans used to use urine (stale urine too) for laundry because of its ammonia content. Check this out.

Really! What is the problem. Just to really shock the prudes: not only do I have a wee in the shower sometimes, as a aurfee I also sometimes wee in my wetsuit...it was actually recommended to me by other surfers as a way to keep yourself warm!!!

Tiggersuki Fri 16-Nov-18 12:34:49

Sorry not sure how I typed aurfee...no idea what that is but I am a surfer.

I'm with you Gonegirl. Why not use the loo before you get in the shower! I'm sure the men in my house have done it....I'd rather not know.

BlueBelle Fri 16-Nov-18 12:44:10

yellowmellow your not reading the posts a lot of people do have a piddle before the shower then the trickling water makes them do more ...others like me think it’s perfectly reasonable to do both, shower and wee at the same time my shower head is over my bath so I am literally standing over the plug hole any wee I pass is down the pipe before you could even count one

Thanks to you all for your comments. I’ve forgiven him now!

GG, you can drink yours if you like but I’d have to be at death’s door to drink mine. ?

OMG, I will never sleep again.

Well here all waste water ends in the same sewer, so I can't see it makes any difference.

I once had a cat that used the floor drain too for a wee. It saved a lot of cat litter.

Speldnan Fri 16-Nov-18 13:15:05

It is a different waste system and it’s a horrible thing to do/ deliberately anyway...

I'm sure that many of us us have done this, I certainly have from time to time. We're still here to tell the tale so it hasn't done us any harm. I really wouldn't worry about it too much.

annep Fri 16-Nov-18 13:37:31

So the water from the sink in the kitchen goes out by the same pipe as the shower and the toilet??

Sparklefizz Fri 16-Nov-18 13:44:23

annep Not in most houses or surely you'd get the smell of sewage coming up from the kitchen sink?

sharon103 Fri 16-Nov-18 13:57:29

Oh no! yuk. I hope the men in our house don't do this and I won't ask now. Use the toilet before getting in the shower.

oldgaijin Fri 16-Nov-18 14:02:55

I'm with you Willow10...as soon as hot water hits the bum, I wee. Better than weeing in the bath.

gmelon Fri 16-Nov-18 14:37:34

Not all of us were trained by mum running a tap.
How about this;
As children we are potty trained we can hear ourselves wee (running water).
Mum and us are waiting for that magic sound of wee (running water).
Hence now as adults running water triggers weeing.

annep Fri 16-Nov-18 14:48:15

I thought thats what Monica said Sparklefizz. Is my brain not working today???

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Nov-18 14:54:19

it's drinkable.
The advice now, if caught in the wilds with no water, is not to drink it - it contains too many minerals and could damage your kidneys.

I was walking through the cleaning product aisle this morning and thinking about this - we're happy for all these chemicals, palm oil etc etc to go down the drains but are worried about a drop of urine going down which is probably much less harmful to the environment.

annep Fri 16-Nov-18 14:55:05

Sparklefizz my husband showers like that when we stay in our caravan. I always thought it funny. So he's not alone!

annep Fri 16-Nov-18 14:57:03

And why are we even talking about this??

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Nov-18 14:58:41

Urine was also used for tanning leather Baggs
In fact, I think they taxed it

Jan66 Fri 16-Nov-18 15:00:10

I wouldn't do it in a swimming pool - no - but I guess some babies, children (and adults) might (thankfully there is chlorine). I see no problem with having a wee whilst showering if you get caught short (all that running water). I have had a wee in the sea once whilst in Minorca - but then, other creatures do so in the sea anyway - lol.

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Nov-18 15:00:47

Gabriella
I've never been in a toilet on board an aeroplane.
I would have to on long haul, not short haul, that's why I carry a pack of anti-bacterial wet wipes with me!

M0nica Fri 16-Nov-18 15:01:53

sparklefizz You do not get a smell from the kitchen sink because all sinks/basins/loos/bath have U bend traps underneath them. The U bend always has water in it so no smell escapes.

We have a holiday home in France and sometimes, if we have a big enough gap between visits, especially in summer, the water in one bath U bend, in particular completely dries up. We always know when that happens from the smell of sewage in that bathroom. Run the tap, fill the U bend again and the smell goes away.

Out in the wilds with no water. Always take a horse with you. Hsndy for getting around and you can drink their blood. A nick in a neck vein and Bob's your uncle. grin
