If you want to ask a question

A thread if you want to ask me a question about christianity. Mine, or in general.

I am getting asked questions about my christianity across different threads.

So if you want to ask me a question, ask here.

If no one does, fine. Great.
But if you do in future, I suspect that gransnet would like it dealt with here rather than questions popping up on other peoples' threads, for the forseeable.
Thanks.

The above post is going to be too deep for some, so I dont want to say anymore about that post.
Others can of course do what they like.

etheltbags1, I do know what you mean about 'tree-hugging, actually! I've done it a couple of times and there did seem to be a 'strength' there - and no, I hadn't been hanging on to it after a Gransnet Burns' meet-up grin!

Question....If God is praised for sending a good harvest e.g 'We plough the fields and scatter'. Who gets the blame when the harvest fails ?

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:17:31

*Also if there is a god why does he send illnesses and suffering.
Answer that and I might be on the way to being a better Christian*

God allows some illnesses and suffering to christians to help them learn more things about God. I dont think that always works.

I am not sure it is God who allows illness to non christians, but I could be wrong.

Other people might have a better answer than me.

ginny. My personal answer is that it is God too. He is the one that sends the weather. So God.

So where do we go if we are not committed Christians? What if we are thinking about 'converting' ( to what, RC, CofE, orthodox, methodist, yazidi?) and die very suddenly? Will the pearly gates be closed?
Where do other religions go.? (Mansions have been discarded now)

I didn't know that religious people disliked reiki.

If God sends the weather why are we being blamed for global warming?

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:36:03

I realise I shouldnt write the word personal as it can be confusing.

I have looked in the bible before, several times, and I can find nowhere that it says anyone other than God, is the one who sends the rain, wind, hail, snow etc etc.
So God.

Churches, chapels, meeting places, would absolutely love non christians to go to them. You would be welcomed with very open arms!

I hate to write about early death[wish I didnt now]. It upsets people.

rosequartz Mon 12-Jan-15 23:40:44

So there is not a lot we can do about 'man-made' climate change.

(The earth has always experienced climate change, some quite rapid.)

rosequartz Mon 12-Jan-15 23:42:58

Who do you mean by 'you'? - all of us who are asking questions?

ginny Mon 12-Jan-15 23:43:35

So when storms and hurricanes come or when there is drought and the harvest fails ,I wonder why God would want people to suffer the hunger and disease that follow ?

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:47:04

The weather question I will answer tomorrow. My brain is a bit addled right now.

Where do other religions go?
Jesus will judge us all, of every religion. I was going to say that we are all judged in the same way, but actually that could be wrong. We all come from different places, and families, and culture etc.
Glad I am not the judge. I dont know the full answer.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 12-Jan-15 23:47:19

We are going against God's will when we cause global warming. God gave us a perfectly nice set of weather, on the whole, and we go and muck it up. God gave us free will. And brains. And scientists to listen to. But do we listen? hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 12-Jan-15 23:49:17

You can't blame God for our failings.

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:49:19

No, I meant non christians. I was presuming you were a non christian for some reason. I am sorry . That was rude of me. I have no idea whether you are a christian or not. Apologies.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 12-Jan-15 23:51:44

ginny why would God want people to suffer drought and disease? Maybe he just isn't all-powerful. Perhaps it's childish to expect him to be.

My brain's addled too.

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:52:35

ginny. I dont think that we can try to tell ourselves that he doesnt adminster punishment, even in this day and age.
I dont like saying some of the things that are in the bible. But on the other hand, I think people are entitled to know.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 12-Jan-15 23:53:44

Were you apologising to me there soontobe? Have we got our wires crossed? (I do confuse people a bit. Sometimes)

Night night.

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:54:15

Does moon mean bed?
I am off to bed.
Goodnight.

soontobe Mon 12-Jan-15 23:55:14

No I was apologising to rosequartz.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 12-Jan-15 23:56:27

Oh right.

Tired brains all round.

Night night.

etheltbags1 Mon 12-Jan-15 23:56:31

soontobe, if the devil can give me my life back I will happily don a pair of horns and dance naked under my elderberry tree at midnight or anytime and wear an upside down cross etc etc

soontobe Tue 13-Jan-15 00:00:41

I understand what you are saying. He doesnt have that power. flowers

rosequartz Tue 13-Jan-15 00:05:58

No need to apologise!
I am confused at the moment (in general, not with this thread)
I have a tired brain too.
