Are you as moral as you think you are?
grin (Please don't anybody go off on one because they have taken it literally )
This test has only one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Only you will know the results, so remember that your answer needs to be honest.
THE SITUATION:
You are in Florida; Miami, to be specific. There is chaos all around you, caused by a hurricane with severe flooding; in fact,a flood of Biblical proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper, and you are caught in the middle of this epic disaster. You are trying to shoot career-making photos.
The situation is nearly hopeless. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.
THE TEST:
Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris.
You move closer. Somehow, the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is: Donald Trump.
At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under forever.
YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS:
You can save the life of Donald Trump,
or
You can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of the world's most powerful man, hell-bent on the destruction of the USA.
THE QUESTION:
Please give an honest answer.
Would you select high contrast color film,
or
Would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?
grin

Why? Has it been away? confused

Jayanna9040 Fri 24-Feb-17 16:58:57

Well I didn't twig the name change.........

Jalima Fri 24-Feb-17 17:46:19

I would shoot in colour because, with today's excellent photoshopping programmes, you can change to black and white, sepia etc.

I think Trump would panic and drown any would-be rescuer who made an attempt to help by climbing on their head to get out of the water. Not worth the risk. However, I would save his wife or Barron though, I'm not that bad!

durhamjen Fri 24-Feb-17 18:14:04

I can do that on my camera, Jalima. I could take both types one after the other to compare. Unfortunately he would probably have drowned by the time I had done so.

Parsleywin Fri 24-Feb-17 18:47:54

Very funny, Maw! I didn't see that coming!

Wheniwasyourage Fri 24-Feb-17 19:27:35

Love it! Thanks, MawBroon!

MawBroon Fri 24-Feb-17 19:39:26

I occasionally tell fibs, Mawbroon.

I'd chuck him a life belt which, of course, there must be handy because we are told we "can" save his life. That means there are the means to do so at our disposal, of which one possibility is a life belt firmly attached onshore by a long rope. We do not necessarily have to be swimmers ourselves, or get wet, or 'carry' him.

We'd be good life belt chuckers, naturally.

MawBroon Fri 24-Feb-17 23:26:00

That was NOT the question thatbags
I did say not to take it seriously but they're an awfie virtuous lot on GN hmm

durhamjen Fri 24-Feb-17 23:28:21

Not me. I couldn't chuck a lifebelt to save my life - or trump's.
Gransnetters also like to make up their own questions.

Black and White

Sorry, MB, I thought I understood the first option: Would you "save the life of Donald Trump"? Seems simple enough but apparently not. Seems you didn't understand my attempt at humour either. Hey ho.

Re-reading the OP, it does strike me that the expected and desired answer is the second option. I'm obviously too straightforward by half. Why call something a moral choice when it isn't?

Retreats, baffled.

Colour

Jalima Sat 25-Feb-17 10:49:49

I'll take your photo thatbags, as you throw the lifebelt.
Don't fall in as well - although that could make a spectacular photo

hmm photo of the year award? colour or b&w?

MawBroon Sat 25-Feb-17 10:54:44

i did warn people not to take it literally and thought the question was quite clearly indicated, being in SHOUTY CAPITALS.
"Moral dilemma" clearly ironic. hmm
So no, not aware of a sense of humour in some replies sad

Haha! Thanks, jal!

MB, I'll add yours to the list of posts to be avoided. Then I'll be safe and you won't be troubled by my different way of thinking. All the best. Mwah!

Badenkate Sat 25-Feb-17 11:19:12

Made me laugh Mawbroon, thank you! Definitely black and white - much more classy and would show the hair floating in the water (and the bald spot I should imagine). Even better if I got the people lined up on the side, cheering the water on!

Thanks a bunch.
Hardly my fault you misread the post and chose to be sniffy about it

Faye Sat 25-Feb-17 12:01:32

Colour. I would want to get a good likeness of him as he swirls by in the raging waters. smile

Riverwalk Sat 25-Feb-17 12:03:45

This is hard .... but I'm going with colour.

Smileless2012 Sat 25-Feb-17 12:06:49

Black and white; it's more classy and Trump needs all the help he can get.

radicalnan Sat 25-Feb-17 13:14:25

Save Trump, surely he would reward me ???

Juney64 Sat 25-Feb-17 13:25:18

That really made me laugh - not at all the 2 options I expected at the end!!

Colour, definitely - just to have a record of what shade of orange his hair was on the day of his demise!
