What happens to truly evil people when die?

My brother in law died last night.
A truly evil man.
Before my mum passed away she told me that he would have to stand before the Almighty and answer for all the things he had
done.
Things so terrible I can't say them.
I believe in a loving and forgiving God, so I'm having some trouble with what she said.
Any advice would be welcome please

Gill. paddyanne said she would ban religion. You have expressed agreement with her views. It would be nice if those who don’t have religious beliefs would lay off those of us who do. No-one is trying to harm or convert you.

Blondiescote just because something is done in the name of religion, doesn't mean that it's done because of that religion, and wouldn't have happened without it.

I agree GSM especially at this time of year which is so important to Christians.

It’s been awful this Christmas, two tiny babies killed by parents, now two sets of twins left on their own and dying in a house fire. Surely these people suffer the rest of their life for their sins. PI cannot dwell on it as it’s beyond comprehension. Why do the innocent suffer, that bugs me. There has to be something beyond this life to which we are answerable. I don’t know what happens to these evil people, I hope they never find any peace or love or freedom. Sorry if that sounds vengeful.

No it doesn’t sound vengeful Allsorts. These are terrible things and apart from suffering in this life, which the people responsible definitely will, my belief is that eventually they will have to answer to God.

Sorry, but that makes absolutely NO sense to me whatsoever.

No need to apologise Blondiescote.

I think that people like this suffer for all or most of their lives in some way, so they've lived with their punishments in a sense and not the normal lives that most of us enjoy. Sad really.

Well said, suffering in itself is punishment. Sad thing is that they may of been a product of their environment where bad things happened and they learned and repeated this pattern. Everyone has choices and help is available but many people cannot see that they need the help or do not believe in it. So the cycle continues round and round they go.

If you truly repent and trust in the Lord then you will be forgiven by God no matter what. That is God’s gift to us as humans. It involves true acceptance of our sin which is not so easy as it sounds.

This is where I come unstuck with religion and belief My Dad was a kind and gentle man who was honest and thoughtful but he didn’t believe now according to the church he will rot in hell because he didn’t believe. I m similar, although
I ve made far more mistakes in life than I think he ever did so I m sure I m not as clean as he was but I ve tried my best under some blooming difficult times however my end is forecasted the same
I was told by a fervent Church of England follower that no non Christians can go to heaven !!! and now again here by Discodancer We only know that Christians will be taken to the next life. bit of an exclusive club then DD It doesn’t sound very all encompassing
I try hard to believe but none of it seems to sit right how ever hard I try I wish I could wave a magic wand and become religious I m sure their minds are much more comforted by the thought of a happy after life than mine are

You ask what happens when we die? Well, I believe in a loving and forgiving God who forgives our sins. Everyone of us is human and we alllllll sway off the road that God intends for us, but i believe that if we realise we have done wrong, whatever it may be and we repent of our wrong doings and try our level best not to do them again then i believe that only God knows our hearts and forgives, if we truly repent.

Your BIL only has God to answer to, we as human beings have no say in what happens when a person dies, obviously.

Yes, if they're bad through and through then we only have our own personal view on it, but once we take our last breath, then God takes charge.

I have no religious beliefs human nature is complex and we don’t know why people turn out evil. We are all born in our time and we die in our time we live on through our offspring and memories.
There is no heaven or hell we can see what’s around the planet now we have the technology so they don’t exist.

Patrioticfella78 Fri 04-Feb-22 02:30:49

Wishing anyone to go to "hell" is actually an evil thing and part of our flawed human nature God created. God is well aware of how horrible his creations can be and no act no matter how wicked it seems to us shocks Him. I'm sure He sees things in a very different light than us humans do.

Patrioticfella78 Fri 04-Feb-22 02:34:06

None are "innocent" btw, not even children. We are all children to God

Patrioticfella78 Fri 04-Feb-22 02:45:01

You are a victim of human emotion. God is not a victim of that and thankfully for all of us he does not judge us through emotional flawed eyes as us humans tend to do.

Patrioticfella78 Fri 04-Feb-22 02:48:58

I hope they do find peace and love if God so chooses that for them. You are not viewed in any higher regard by God than the folks you call "evil" that you hope don't find love or peace. The sooner you realize this the better.

Patrioticfella78 Fri 04-Feb-22 02:52:05

You speak as if you are so pure and holy. Yes, it does sound vengeful because it is. Wake up

Patrioticfella78 Fri 04-Feb-22 02:53:11

Geemanshepherdsmum, that was directed at you.

FannyCornforth Fri 04-Feb-22 04:13:17

Patrioticfella you’re not coming across so great yourself!

Galaxy Fri 04-Feb-22 07:44:15

Are you God patrioticfella? Because that's going to be really inconvenient for my atheism.

grin No, just some keyboard warrior who thinks he is!

part of our flawed human nature God created Just wondering - if any one of us were an all-powerful creator would we choose to create flawed humans or something a bit better than that? More to the point would we do so if we were a good and loving creator?

I am just reading This Tender Land and there was an interesting quote therein.
“Listen Odie, what does a shepherd eat? I didn’t know where he was going with that so I didn’t reply. “His flock”, Albert told me. “One by one.”

HettyBetty Fri 04-Feb-22 09:57:53

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, like the rest of us.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 04-Feb-22 10:13:22

I’m neither pure nor holy patrioticfella, I’m an ordinary flawed human being and don’t pretend otherwise. However I believe in God and I don’t believe he reserves space in heaven only for good or Christian people. Quite what I have said to provoke your attack I don’t know.

Pepper59 Fri 04-Feb-22 11:09:00

I don't know, nobody knows.

Caleo Fri 04-Feb-22 11:23:08

Truly evil people when their lives end, are relieved of their ignorance and stupidity.
