We really didn't mean to cause any upset, and we are really sorry if we did.

Of course, you are just like us, a mixed bunch, but all are well meaning. smile

You have probably got some new members from here because of this contratante (hope that's right - don't speak french!) (me included) and, who knows, some of your grans may have joined us here. Hope Sure we can all get along. smile

We were only joshing. wink

You'd cause a war in an empty house Jings! Fortunately, they are not daft over on Grannynet and also know when someone is having a laugh!

Haha aggie I recognise your message from the one you left on Grannynet! Welcome over here. If we have to go on the naughty step we won't be able to get up again after spending a minute for every year of our life!! Let's be friends smile

aggie Sun 11-Mar-12 21:23:55

Tut Tut I am very particular about spelling

aggie Sun 11-Mar-12 21:26:04

i think there is room for two forums ! I go on lots of craft forums and no one minds , but I suppose some of the granny stuff is a bit sensitive

harrigran Sun 11-Mar-12 21:54:20

I'm very sorry and I don't really think you all wear pearls and twinsets. I think I have been learning tricks from my 6 year old GD, she is quite naughty at the moment.

glassortwo Sun 11-Mar-12 22:18:49

wotsamashedupjingl Sun 11-Mar-12 23:01:23

Well I haven't sussed anybody. I can't do the site. I can't find my way round. sad

yogagran Sun 11-Mar-12 23:08:35

I agree with jingle, the site is not easy to use and I won't be staying over there.

glassortwo Sun 11-Mar-12 23:09:39

Not as easy as here.

nanapug Sun 11-Mar-12 23:12:08

Yes, I went to have a look and found it very hard to navigate. This site is so easy (needs to be for me!!) but don't think I will bother to try and work "the other place" out. I'll stick with what I know and love ;)

elen1 Sun 11-Mar-12 23:43:02

I did join it for a while, but hardly used it, the site is hard to navigate and it seems a bit more fun on here!! the last I looked and to delete my account there was a debate started by a catholic woman ranting on about gay marriages!! the threads were not as friendly as she had hoped, I think she wanted everyone to 'be on her side' it was not for me. But some of them on there were really nice. But yes, I do like it on here, even though I havent been on here long !!

Some forums just seem to run their course - when I first came to France the expat forums were very lively, but now few people are moving to France, and the old hands don't need advice on tax, health, plumbing, etc. There was a big falling out about two years ago and some people left one forum and started another, but that also lost a lot of members because of infighting.
I hold very strong views on many subjects and I enjoy debating questions of principle - however, I try to remain courteous and do
not make personal remarks unless really provoked!
I suppose much depends on whether you are used to discussing important subjects like religion, politics and sex but it seems a shame to close down a debate just because some people might object to others' views.
If I am not interested in a subject (like crafts/knitting) I simply don't open that thread.
I already spend too much time on this forum (although I multi-task by watching TV at the same time) so I don't think I will bother posting on the other forum, but I might look in from time to time. I don't think I could go in disguise - I am told I have a rather distinctive 'voice'.

I was a complete forum virgin before joining GN, and now feel very comfortable with it and you all, but find it's quite enough in the world of virtual forums.

How anyone finds time for more than one site beats me. grin

Looks like it's not going to be a case of " I will have satisfaction madam, I insist on handbags, on the heath, at dawn" . Ho hum grin
