As so many people now access the site on a phone or tablet, and to keep up with the modern world grin we're making Gransnet all lovely and mobile friendly. It will mean a few tweaks, as you can imagine, but we hope to bring you a test version very soon so that you can tell us what you like, what you like a bit less, and what you love (of course) - and this will all help us make the end version as fantastic as possible.

Now as part of this we're looking to streamline our forum topics a little - mainly to avoid people having to scroll for several days to find what they want grin

We are NOT getting rid of anything (and we are not getting rid of any threads!) but we are looking at merging a few topics and amalgamating a few that get less traffic into other areas. All to make it easier for use of course - but if you have strong feelings about anything now's the time to let us know.

Here's the new list as it stands.

First impression is that it looks good. Will take a bit of getting used to.
Looking forward to the finished article.

One thing I noticed, with my local editor hat on, is that there needs to be a link to finding your Gransnet Local pages on the landing page when you click on the Local button.

hildajenniJ Wed 10-Jun-15 14:04:12

Oh yes, I like it! Very easy to navigate. I can't wait to update my profile page, and see how it looks. smile

kittylester Wed 10-Jun-15 15:04:55

I like it but I would also like to be able to see who the last post is by - and the first (in an ideal world!)grin

Grannyknot Wed 10-Jun-15 15:06:29

Hee! I am in shock.

Lona Wed 10-Jun-15 15:36:54

Can we post photos on any thread now? I notice the thread about school shoes (yawn) starts with a pic!

kittylester Wed 10-Jun-15 16:13:06

Ok, I'm pretty certain that I am being dim here (don't all agree!) but how do I start a new thread? confused

kittylester Wed 10-Jun-15 16:14:45

I was being dim - I've found it!

Lona Wed 10-Jun-15 16:15:33

My tablet has gone back to the old style now.

Pittcity Wed 10-Jun-15 16:40:10

Lona you can switch between views using the link that is right at the bottom of the page.

Lona Wed 10-Jun-15 17:08:02

Thanks pittcity, found it now..

ninathenana Wed 10-Jun-15 17:32:08

Hmmm, At the moment I'm reserving judgement. I'm sure I'll love it when used to it.

shysal Wed 10-Jun-15 17:32:58

My watching list has been emptied - twice! And what has happened to 'last hour' and 'last day'. I use those all the time!

grumppa Wed 10-Jun-15 17:44:22

I too shall miss Last Hour; it's what I go to first. Mind you, DW never uses it.

Pittcity Wed 10-Jun-15 19:07:51

I miss the bookmark to save where I am up to on a long thread.

Pittcity Wed 10-Jun-15 19:11:50

Oops, if have found out how to do it. Takes more clicks than before but it works! The emojis are much easier grin

Maggiemaybe Wed 10-Jun-15 20:06:52

I'm reserving my judgement too. Apparently I haven't posted on any thread yet, nor am I watching any threads. So I've lost all my Gransnet history. I do hope this is going to be sorted out and I hope 'last hour' and 'last day' are being reinstated. If not, it's a resounding no from me. sad

mcem Wed 10-Jun-15 20:19:25

Taken aback when I logged on and found I'd no history of anything. Opted to go to desktop!

kittylester Wed 10-Jun-15 20:49:27

Bookmarks are in the three dots at the end of each post! I really hate not seeing who the last post was, it's quite often me!!!

Bellanonna Wed 10-Jun-15 21:26:33

Looks ok to me. Only use iPad. Downside to that is that is I spend a lot more time on gransnet as its so easy!

Lona Thu 11-Jun-15 10:28:33

I like it so far, but I agree with Kitty about seeing who posted last and at what time. I don't want to have to keep checking.

rubysong Thu 11-Jun-15 11:23:32

Not keen at the moment. I can't find 'last hour' and 'last day'.

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 11-Jun-15 11:24:43

Thank you all for giving it a go and reporting back. We'll take a look and see what the score is about seeing last poster etc... Back to you soon.

rubysong Thu 11-Jun-15 11:27:32

I've reverted to desktop.

janeainsworth Thu 11-Jun-15 12:08:30

Just got on to the mobile version.
I like the clarity of the font, but not the fact it says I haven't made any previous postsshock
Just discovered you can do the emoticons without having to type themsmile

hildajenniJ Thu 11-Jun-15 12:12:35

I'm sticking with the mobile site until I gave explored it all. I like new things, and won't give up until I know what it all does!
