As so many people now access the site on a phone or tablet, and to keep up with the modern world grin we're making Gransnet all lovely and mobile friendly. It will mean a few tweaks, as you can imagine, but we hope to bring you a test version very soon so that you can tell us what you like, what you like a bit less, and what you love (of course) - and this will all help us make the end version as fantastic as possible.

Now as part of this we're looking to streamline our forum topics a little - mainly to avoid people having to scroll for several days to find what they want grin

We are NOT getting rid of anything (and we are not getting rid of any threads!) but we are looking at merging a few topics and amalgamating a few that get less traffic into other areas. All to make it easier for use of course - but if you have strong feelings about anything now's the time to let us know.

Here's the new list as it stands.

Now over to you!

Not sure. I personally don't like the purple/magenta font. Using my laptop at the moment, rather than I pad. x

Pittcity Thu 11-Jun-15 15:02:59

I am using the mobile site on my laptop and it is so much easier for posting on the forums with a drop down menu for emoticons. The third circle from the smiley let you put a picture on any thread!!

So how do you get the mobile site on an iPad mini? Pretty please.

(said through gritted teeth)

hildajenniJ Thu 11-Jun-15 15:44:34

At the very bottom of the page, in blue letters you should see mobile site, just click on it.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 15:56:04

Oh!!! Right down there! All on it's own!

Who the flip would notice that? (Well, apart from one or two of the more eagle eyed amongst us) hmm

Thank you Hilda. flowers

GNHQ!
It keeps cropping the photos.
It's decapitated three GN members on Soop's kitchen site!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 17:54:52

Trying this one

Lona Thu 11-Jun-15 18:45:14

I'm on my pc typing this, and it seems to work ok here.smile

I like it!

Lona Thu 11-Jun-15 18:48:02

Galen just click on the photos! It opens them up!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 18:48:42

I agree it needs to show 'last poster'.

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 11-Jun-15 18:49:30

Hi jingl Most times the mobile site should activate automatically, but if it doesn't then the 'mobile site' button thingie (real terminology wink) is there. Btw, I did see your 'You're back?' comment on the other thread a week or so ago but as it was going rather well I didn't want to hop on and disrupt things again wink.

Galen It should just be a viewing thing (in order to fit it on the page). If you click on the photo it should come up with all three heads intact. But if not do let us know!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 19:01:08

Lara I have enjoyed a lovely hour or two in the garden working it all out. I think I've got it now. smile

Btw there's no 'flip the thread' is there. I would miss that, but perhaps you can't get too much on a smaller thingie.

newist Thu 11-Jun-15 19:16:15

I am using my android to type this, I used to mainly use last hour, much easier, I am reserving judgment for now.smile

loopylou Thu 11-Jun-15 19:49:27

No can do photos sad
Clearly I'm doing something wrong, iPad mini won't let me crop photos before I attach them so the loading goes on and on and on...........
And then I give up!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 20:01:56

Oh... sad. You need to keep trying. Took me a couple of hours this afternoon. It's not easy.

newist Thu 11-Jun-15 20:09:21

Up to now I have been trying to upload a photo for 7min I shall keep trying as long as I have the patience sad

Galen Thu 11-Jun-15 21:34:17

It won't always up load but yes, clicking on photo does restore their heads.

Ana Thu 11-Jun-15 21:37:32

Is it worth it if it's taking people hours and hours to upload a photo...? hmm

newist Thu 11-Jun-15 21:53:13

I have given up after 1hr and 52 min sad

Maggiemaybe Thu 11-Jun-15 22:14:11

Does it depend on which iPad or phone thingy you use? Seems to upload okay from my Kindle Fire.

Maggiemaybe Thu 11-Jun-15 22:15:05

By okay, I mean I uploaded a photo in seconds.

newist Thu 11-Jun-15 22:16:49

Mines an android, any suggestions?

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 22:46:38

Do you mean it buffers for that length of time? I think that means you still need to make it smaller. I think if it hasn't gone through in about 3 minutes it's not going to.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 22:48:20

Ana - it's more fun than politics. grin

newist Thu 11-Jun-15 23:09:58

I have made my photo so small, it only has my cats ear on it, and it still wont load sad
