Invited to contribute by GN then stopped in one's tracks?

Last week I broke up from school and have therefore been spending more time than usual on GN for fun conversations, relaxation and good advice. Perhaps, however, I am not totally familiar with its workings.
What I would like to know is ... if I get an email alert from the GN team about a topic "we are dicussing today" and to which I would like to add further contributions, what is the etiquette if the OP suddenly wants to terminate the discussion before the day is out? I'm not trying to be difficult here, I just feel valid posts could become stifled and not allowed to run their course just because the OP has had enough.

I have my doubts yours was an exclusive invitation to contribute hmm lillie, but if a thread is deleted for whatever reason, so be it.
No big deal, surely?
And "investing your time??? confused
Surely you are now on holiday and are now enjoying shed loads of paid free time.

Lillie if you go on to 'Threads I'm On' you will see this under the thread you mentioned:
This thread has been deleted at the OP's request. (We don't normally delete whole threads but we will do so when it is to protect a poster's privacy.^

which is fair enough, it has happened before if someone has created a thread then got worried that someone in the family may read it and it could cause further trouble.
We have to respect that.

GN do send emails suggesting threads we may be interested in, I may or may not be interested in them. I tend to have a look at threads I contributed to (to which I contributed!!) in case someone has a different idea or some other interesting ideas.

I think it's unwise to invest too much time on posts Lillie.
Even if they are not randomly deleted by GNHQ, brevity makes them more likely to be read.

Hi all,

We don't usually delete threads wherever possible, except when a poster's anonymity is threatened, and this is the case with the thread in question. Sorry for any confusion/disappointment!

It's no big deal is it? confused

I'm not surprised that the thread was removed - the OP included her own name, GD's name, two UK locations, nationality of SIL, and exotic destination!

I think it's good that we can do that. I once asked for a post of mine to be deleted because I thought it gave personal details that could be identified. On the "war babies" thread.
GNHQ asked me why, then deleted it.
