We're VERY excited to announce that we are finally testing out a new site design! We've been working really hard to make sure it's easier to user and looks neater than the current format.

It is a test though and it may take a day or two to get used to. Apologies in advance for any teething problems - hopefully they'll be minimal. If you have any major problems logging in or you can't access certain things please post on this thread or email us at contactus. We'd love to have your thoughts. smile

Durhanjen ususally the sub comment is indented an inch so yes the other person would see it

durhamjen Sat 12-Aug-17 11:14:49

But only if s/he knew about it.
I get the impression that people do not go back 50 or 100 posts on here.

durhamjen Sat 12-Aug-17 11:15:17

Just want to see if it indents on GN.

durhamjen Sat 12-Aug-17 11:15:36

No, it doesn't.

FarNorth Sat 12-Aug-17 11:23:38

That's because it's not a reply to a specific post, just getting added on the end.

durhamjen Sat 12-Aug-17 12:08:48

Comment added to Bluebelle's post to test.

durhamjen Sat 12-Aug-17 12:09:50

No, it doesn't work. Why do HQ have 'add comment' if it doesn't.

BlueBelle Sat 12-Aug-17 12:27:25

No it doesn't indent on this site and how it works on other forums is if you use the persons name in your reply they would get a notification it's a very handy tool as things can get quite mixed up if people have deviated into other subject as conversations do tend to meander

Indinana Sun 13-Aug-17 09:27:24

Yes I agree. I've always thought the 'add comment' was a bit misleading because it implies you can respond directly to that specific post, but you can't. Your comment just goes to the end of the thread, by which point there could be dozens of comments in between yours and the one you are answering! All in all, it's a bit pointlesss.
We're not all glued to GN 24/7, with fingers ready on the keyboard to fire off replies as soon as a comment appears. Mostly we are reading through threads to catch up, and then we're so often unable to 'join in' properly as we've missed that particular boat and the conversation has moved on.

I really don't like the orange buttons. Orange and purple looks horrible.

Jane10 Sun 13-Aug-17 10:22:06

Orange buttons?!! Where?

FarNorth Sun 13-Aug-17 11:42:40

At the top of the page

On the desktop site

Not strictly on topic, but loosely related. A while back I seem to recall we were informed that GN had made links with AgeUK (or it could be t'other way round). I haven't seen any further reference to this 'partnership' if that's what it is.

How does it manifest itself, please? Does anyone know? Or do I have the wrong end of the stick?

Alima Sun 13-Aug-17 14:06:20

I cannot remember that Blinko but do recall an idea of some tie in with Mills and Boon for some unfathomable reason.

JackyB Mon 14-Aug-17 11:40:40

Do we know when the test has finished and we can go back to the site we were used to?

devongirl Mon 14-Aug-17 14:49:15

Well said!

devongirl Mon 14-Aug-17 14:50:16

Now the 'last hour' button says there is nothing there ?! I know there is, because I just posted!!

annsixty Mon 14-Aug-17 15:21:52

There is now a new setup for last hour. I do not like it at all. It is not in the order I am used to seeing.?

annsixty Mon 14-Aug-17 15:23:52

No,no,no.

Tizliz Mon 14-Aug-17 15:24:31

mmmm not sure about the new new design, very wishy washy and when using 'I'm on' it is difficult to distinguish one thread from another.

devongirl Mon 14-Aug-17 15:35:27

Please please please go back to previous layout for 'last hour' and 'I'm on' this is awful!! If it ain't broke don't fix it

devongirl Mon 14-Aug-17 15:37:14

How can we work out if we want to read a thread when the forum category and the title are run together on the same line?!

MiniMouse Mon 14-Aug-17 15:42:06

It just gets worse and worse sad

devongirl Mon 14-Aug-17 15:45:41

I agree!! If you must put subject and title on the same line, couldn't you at least show then in different colours?
