Another poll! Do you have a tattoo?

I have a tiny bird
on the inside of my left wrist and I love it. I had it done earlier this year - I am 70 and felt I was old enough to be tarty if I wanted to be! I had never had any desire for one till this year, didn't particularly like them. I also got myself a personalised number plate, something else I'd always thought was flash!

Yes I have two, small one's granted but I like them.

i have two - so far! a small lion on my right ankle and a little bunch of flowers on my left shoulder.
however i'm thinking of at least one more but that will have to wait until after my knee op when i get my independence back.

I'm looking for an artist who can draw what I want! I've been waiting a very long time ?

Got my first tattoo when I was forty a butterfly. Second in 2011 in memory of my Dad. I love them and have no regrets at all.

Nearly got one in my 40s, I wanted a hedgehog but I was a tad tipsy (only way I would voluntarily have a needle stuck in me!) and I could neither draw a convincing one or remember the Turkish for hedgehog. I would add that it was a reputable tattooist not some back street dive.

One daughter has none, one daughter has a few and the other daughter has lots! My son has one or two as well, I think as long as they are well done and not offensive they are a particularly beautiful form of art, and each to their own.

I hate pain so no for me. They look lovely on toned bods but I do wonder what they will look like when the skin goes south.

Never! I hate tattoos of any kind. Luckily my children hate them too so hopefully none of my grandchildren (5-14 years) will ever get one either.

Can’t judge a person by their tattoos. Why tacky and why horrible?

Are there any statutory regulations re composition of inks used - I have some doubts - maybe a lot of health problems to come. Does laser removal treatment disperse ink fragments into the body?

Would love to have my late sons name and d,o,b on the inside of my wrist but I am coward.

You can’t judge a book by its cover as the saying goes, doesn’t mean because you have a tattoo you are a bad person, the same goes for anyone who has a hoodie top I have one and I am 72 tut tut

No tattoos, no piercings either. Not even ears. Never, not nohow!

I would like a "DNR" tattooed on the inside of each wrist for my 70th birthday. But I'm terrified of catching Hep. C or other horror. My only thing is to let as many people as possible know. Not easy as usually you are resuscitated when unconscious and usually alone...

I think tattoos are an abuse of the human body. I have a friend who used to self-harm. She now has so many tattoos that there is hardly any natural skin to see. She says it helps to have someone else causing pain, than to do it herself! I don't see that as a cure.

Not yet but I’m planning on have a small one but cannot decide where to have it done. I’m 61 my life my rules that’s my motto.

My son and his wife are covered in them and I can't help thinking they will regret them when they are older. I think I'd be far more likely to regret getting one than not ever having one so they are not for me.

I had a shamrock tattoo done in memory of my Mum who was Irish, I was about 45 , my Dad gave me a severe reprimand as he hated them, he had both arms covered from when he was in the navy, he wouldn't wear short sleeves, I have since had it covered with Bastet the Egyptian cat Goddess, I don't care if it gets old looking, it's the least of my worries when I look in the mirror, I can see why people don't like them as they are permanent, but everyone has different taste, we can't all like the same things or we would all look the same,I don't like tongue piercing as it makes me feel sick to look at, but if others like it it's up to them,

Not for me, thank you. I always think they look dirty. Much to my surprise, my quiet and thoughtful son has a couple and the adventurous one has none. Funny old life!

My DD & her OH have several, mostly tasteful, DM tolerates them on her DGD

No, I hate them. I grew up with a dad who got his arms tattooed in the army. He really hated them and spent most of his adult life wearing long sleeves to cover them up.

I hear a lot of folk day's you can't judge a person by their tattoos' I beg to disagree. If you put pictures or other designs on your body to be seen by others you are saying something about yourself. You cannot then expect others not to form an opinion of you by what they see just as they would form an opinion of you by what you say or do. And yes, we do (initially) judge a book by its cover. That is why books have illustrated covers.

I have a small one running across my wrists. Of a dandelion with it's little seeds/fairies (whatever they're called) coming loose & flying away. Had this done just a couple of years ago after 2 of my daughters flew the nest ( a tough time for me)
Just a discreet one but am so pleased I braved it. Wasn't that bad an experience in the end ( & yes I would do it again!) ?
