Another poll! Do you have a tattoo?

Another day, another poll... This time it's a bit more light-hearted, though. Inspired by your recent thread on the subject, we'd like to know if you have any tattoos? Or if you have one you regret? Or maybe the chances of you walking into a tattoo parlour are about the same as those of hell freezing over!! grin

Either way, we'd like to know here (if you care to share!): www.gransnet.com/online-surveys-product-tests/over-50s-tattoos

I don't have any, personal choice.
But quite like looking at interesting ones on other people
(usually summertime observations smile)

Knowing I am late to post, but think there should be more media attention to a recent article I read on tatoo ink containing several leads and other "bad" ingredients which in microscopic form the Dr's have now found in the lymph nodes of those with tatoos - some articles are only how they can "stain" the lymph nodes however, most recently there is indication of these contaminants possibly linked to serious health issues. Do we need to have questionable foreign bodies enter our lymph nodes?
NO! Can everyone that is sober before getting tatoos read?

Blue/ purple hair might look rathet nice and can easily be changed if you change your mind about it.

Tattoos are different. They are dificult to remove. If you were thinking about getting a tattoo you must like them, but you should realise that lots of folk dislike them. This does not mean they are going to judge you, only that they think you would look better without any.

If my memory serves me well...which it doesn't so often these dayshmm this is the third thread on tattoos where I've raised my head over the parapet to be counted, and have had it chopped off instead. The vitriol out there remains the same. I remember in my teens sneering at 'little old ladies with blue rinses' and how I'd never have one - a lot of water under the bridge later and Traa-la, here I sit with purple/blue hair and three self designed tattoos awaiting judgement (I must be an evil, self centred hag) but actually I don't care anymore! My tattoos and hair colouring hurt no one, unlike a lot of the nasty comments on this thread. What I say is 'Beige' to the lot of youshock

During the 1980s I regularly went (volunatarily) to a prison and I noticed how many inmates were tattooed. One old lag told me that he rather resented the fact that other inmates did not regard him as a proper villain because he had no tattoos. He protested that he was a professional criminal, always had been, but he just didn't like tattoos!

I think they are repulsive and cannot imagine why anyone would want one, even to establish their criminal credentials.

Just think they look so.... Well......common. Sorry.

Not in a million years would I consider a tattoo. They are so unsightly particularly on older women!

f77ms Sun 12-Nov-17 19:25:03

About to have a tiny one on my wrist .

Oldwoman70 Sun 12-Nov-17 12:01:44

I have none and don't really like them, however, my dearest friend did have them and added one for every year she survived cancer. She managed 5. Each to their own, I would never judge anyone by the fact they have tattoos.

I had my butterfly tattoo when I was 62,it is on my foot, would love a smaller butterfly as I now have a granddaughter but it hurts too much.

Leticia Sun 12-Nov-17 11:36:40

I am quite happy for people to have them if that is what they wish. One of the reasons I hate GN moving threads to social media is that I would never say what I really thought anywhere else.

Bellasnana Sun 12-Nov-17 10:33:36

I was always anti- tattoos and had a fit when my DD's started getting 'inked', albeit fairly discreet ones. Fast forward a few years and, at the ripe old age of 60, I decided I wanted one.
I have a bumblebee on my tum and I love it! It's not hurting anyone else and it certainly doesn't make me a horrible person. Too much judging going on in this world - live and let live.

RosemaryAnne Sun 12-Nov-17 10:02:39

No way would I have a tattoo

Catterygirl Sun 12-Nov-17 10:02:23

The pain doesn't worry me. The permanence does.

Ronnie Sun 12-Nov-17 08:55:26

Defiantly not, I do not like them, however I have had my eyebrows tattoed & I am very pleased with them, as I had none! Double standard ? Maybe

chrishoops Sun 12-Nov-17 08:51:25

I think they are ugly!

maddy629 Sun 12-Nov-17 08:16:44

I have three and I love them. I have one on my ankle, another on the inside of my wrist and one on my hip. Like bmthbelle13 my daughter and I had one done together, to celebrate her wedding in Antigua.

Willow500 Sun 12-Nov-17 07:37:03

Yes I have one at the base of my spine which goes part way round my hips. Can't see it unless I wore a short top which I never do now. My youngest son (now 43) had his first one done on his leg when he was about 17 - he's a musician so it seemed to go with the job. One band he was with released an album some time later and when the video came out the camera panned round behind them and there he was shirtless (he's a drummer) with the word MASS. tattooed in huge black letter on his back! I was horrified and knew his dad would go mad when he saw it. His plan was to get it covered with a back piece which he did - I don't think he has any more though. My other son however who is a professional business man with two grown up children started with them when he was in his late 20's and has quite a lot (all under clothing so not visible in work). He has a wonderful huge dragon on his back which must have cost a fortune and hurt like hell but it's his body. DIL and eldest GD also have small ones on their wrists and feet which are quite pretty - I've always advocated as long as you can cover them up it's ok.

I thought it was supposed to be a light hearted thread too!! Oh well will own up am 65 had a tattoo of angel wings for my husband who passed early this year and I smoke..what an awful person I am lol

Leticia Sun 12-Nov-17 06:59:48

I don't think it can be lighthearted when the elicit such strong feelings.
I agree Crazygran - I would put smoking as my biggest hate but tattoos come next. I can't understand why anyone wants one- even a small one. (I still don't understand having read this thread).

Crazygran Sat 11-Nov-17 23:55:50

Prob my biggest hate apart from smoking! Can't understand why anyone one won't to deface their body in such a way!
Thank goodness my son and daughter in law don't have any ! Have already started working on my g daughters to put them off. I watch say yes to the dress where brides with tattoos pay a fortune for their gowns to show off their dreadful tattoos!!

Amira15 Sat 11-Nov-17 23:36:28

Hmmm thought this was supposed to be a light hearted poll.

mrshat Sat 11-Nov-17 22:13:22

Hell would have to freeze over - loathe and abhor the things!

marmar01 Sat 11-Nov-17 22:11:50

just got my eyebrows done, don't think they can be classed as a REAL tattoo a they will fade. dont fancy any more.

NameChange2016 Sat 11-Nov-17 21:57:47

I loathe them. I think they look common, plus they always end up a sort of ugly dark greeny black colour. And I hate having injections or bloods done at the doctor's surgery, so why would I have needles stuck in me for fun?!?
