Deleting forums?

I know we can ' hide ' threads individually but is there any way of deleting an entire forum e.g Games, News and Politics.?

I use ' active ' when I look at GN and sometimes there are so many threads of one forum the Active list is almost taken up by one forum.

I am certainly not trying to impose any sort of governance to other posters as deleting ' hiding ' a forum such as Games would have no bearing to those who enjoy using that forum.

To have the ability to use the ' hide ' facility is good but when you have to do it time, after time, after time it is no joke and surely there is a way of ' hiding ' an entire forum rather than having to ' hide ' each and every thread which simply spring back at you in a short period of time, they never seem to go away. 😏

I am not being a misery guts and I hope my request is not seen that way by other posters but surely there is a way of making this easy.

Thank you.

A very good question POGS , I hope you get an answer from GNHQ. I now know about ‘hiding’ ( thanks to asking on GN) but would like to be able to delete completely.

I agree with you POGS
I d like to delete the games forum from my opening page they come in thick and fast and to delete you have to do each one individually and on a mobile or iPad you can only do it by going into the desktop each time and is very time consuming and seems totally antiquated
Like Pogs I ve nothing against the games and I know a lot of posters love them but it’s just a personal not for me thing !

Can we not have a second grouping to run alongside Forums just for Games? Sometimes there are so many games the other stuff drops off the end.

NfkDumpling Mon 10-Feb-20 17:27:33

Sorry, I meant to run alongside Active, etc. It’s been a long day.

BlueBelle I can and do hide threads on the mobile site.
If you need to ask you can pm me. I'm not trying to "teach grandma to suck eggs"

NanaandGrampy Mon 10-Feb-20 17:44:01

Id like to be able to do this also.

BlueBelle Mon 10-Feb-20 18:40:38

nina I was told the only way to do it was change to the desktop set up and then back again if you have a quicker way go for it I m happy to learn

Elegran Mon 10-Feb-20 18:58:06

How do you do it on the desktop? I can't find anything on that.

Luckylegs Mon 10-Feb-20 19:02:48

I don’t know how to hide the games posts but I agree, there are far too many of them on the Active list. It drives me mad, why oh why can’t they just be on a separate Games section?

BlueBelle Mon 10-Feb-20 19:17:16

On the desktop you have to go to the little v at the top right click that and it takes you to a load of queries third one down left hand side is Hide this discussion Click that and you don’t see that one but you have to do it individually for each thread
And if you’re on an iPad you have to change from mobile to desktop each time

Luckylegs Mon 10-Feb-20 19:26:56

Thanks for that, I’m on an iPad but I’ll have to find out how to do that!

Elegran Mon 10-Feb-20 19:32:01

Bluebell Which page is that on? I can't find any little V !

BlueBelle Mon 10-Feb-20 20:13:29

Here’s a screen shot for you elegan the little v is top right hand side

BlueBelle Mon 10-Feb-20 20:14:08

Above the woman’s head in maroon can you see it

Marydoll Mon 10-Feb-20 20:24:12

I'm on a PC and there is no V

Jessity Mon 10-Feb-20 20:34:52

Marydoll try going right down to the bottom of your screen, as far as you can go. In the middle, below all the purple patch, it will say “mobile site”. Click on that and you’ll then be able to open each thread you don’t want, use the down arrow and click on Hide. When you’ve finished, go down to the bottom again and click on Desktop site.

GNHQ another vote here for the ability to hide an entire forum such as Games please.

Jessity 👍🏻

Curlywhirly Mon 10-Feb-20 20:40:04

Bluebelle many thanks for that! The Games threads are of no interest to me either, I have just 'hidden' them all, now my Active page is looking much better. thanks

Elegran Mon 10-Feb-20 21:36:30

Bluebell I eventually followed Jessity's advice and went onto the mobile site. Success!

But there are people using the mobile site who have had to go onto the desktop site to do it - how weird. Desktop users have to go to the mobile site and back, mobile users have to go the the desktop site and back, and neither of them has been told what to do. Not very user friendly.

BlueBelle Mon 10-Feb-20 21:56:06

Ah good elegan yes I m on an iPad (mobile) and have to go into desktop mode to remove every game one by one then when I m done go back into mobile it’s a real real pain but the games just swamp your title page if you don’t

POGS Tue 11-Feb-20 10:13:37

Are you watching GNHQ

Games should definitely be separate from the forums.

Calendargirl Tue 11-Feb-20 12:02:21

I agree it would be better if Games were on a separate forum. There are always so many of them.

Calendargirl Tue 11-Feb-20 12:03:29

Sorry, I meant separate from the forums.
