Why do threads no longer appear in time/date order on the Active list

I know somebody has already asked this question, but I can’t find the relevant thread.
If threads are no longer appearing in order, recent posts risk disappearing altogether as they “drop off the bottom”
GNHQ - this is a relatively new phenomenon - why?
If this pic is clear enough to read, it illustrates what I am saying

I have noticed this as well. I posted yesterday and the thread appeared about sixth on the active list although my post was time dated the most recent.

I posted a thread about this s couple of weeks ago.
Some threads don't even appear in active or trending.
The management posted a reply saying that this wasn't happening confused

So when HQ say it isn’t happening - it clearly is!
(I had a feeling this excuse had been given, hence my screenshot as evidence) hmmhmm

I posted on something the other day, it never showed up on the Active thread, although it was on my ‘I’m On’ and under the relevant forum.

I put it on ‘Quote’ with a question, and it appeared.

What's the definition of 'Active'?
Is it just -say- the most recent 50?
Is it when there has been no response for x days?

If it’s written in Portuguese, it helps it stay Active.
