The influence of Gransnet Daily

(239 Posts)

It is an interesting phenomenon how the mention of a thread as the title feature of Gransnet Daily often results in a massive increase in posts to a thread.

For example, today the thread

www.gransnet.com/forums/relationships/1301027-How-is-a-mother-in-law-addressed

is the title feature and lots of new posts have appeared.

I have ordered it. Mind it will go on my big pile of books that I need to read because I spend too much time on GN.

Mick used to do a good morning thread on his previous forum and asked if we would like him to start one here. Those of us around at the time said we would. It is a lovely start to the day.

It was a joke Kitty

JaneJudge Tue 21-Sept-21 15:26:47

It was obvious it was joke smile but I have no idea who Mick is blush

Chewbacca

^I reckon that Mick has some sort of hold over the management^

What do you mean FannyCornforth?

Even as an attempt at a joke that is pretty unkind to Mick - the most harmless of GN posters.
Fortunately he is unlikely to have seen your post FannyC as he might well have taken it at face value.

Jaxjacky Tue 21-Sept-21 15:33:09

I always though you had the hotline to HQ Fanny ?

FannyCornforth Tue 21-Sept-21 15:38:02

Pitch forks aloft!!!

Of course I’m not being ‘unkind’ to Mick.
I was making reference to the ‘phenomenon’ and ‘influence’ of GN Daily.

Galaxy Tue 21-Sept-21 15:38:46

Didnt one poster think Fanny was part of the GN HQ team. I thought that was funny. Fanny wasnt being unkind.

It was ElderlyPerson not Michael12 who spoke of the “phenomenon” in question.

I know that.
You I know that.
And no else gives a stuff.
Just give it a rest, please

Personally I like to bit at the bottom of the GN Daily that tells me what you’ve been buying. How do they know?

So far, FannyC has been a troll, a clique, a sock and a staff member. Maybe we could have a competition on what her next rôle will be (joke klaxon)

Blossoming Tue 21-Sept-21 19:13:57

the bit, not to.

Fess up, who bought the giant chocolate buttons?

I am happy to vote for fanny as supreme leader of the world, although the worry might finish her off.

As autism was discussed earlier on the thread then perhaps someone who may be on the spectrum might not realise such off-hand jokey comments are meant to be amusing.

LauraNorder Tue 21-Sept-21 20:21:43

I have commented before that FannyC should be President . She wouldn’t be the first fanny in the role but would be oodles better.

LauraNorder Tue 21-Sept-21 20:23:16

President Cornforth has a certain ring to it.

Galaxy Tue 21-Sept-21 20:27:34

Ooh you are right, it's almost regal.

God that's weird, how do they know? I followed a car today that was FULL to the roof of those vacuum packed bags full of bedding, clothes etc I thought it must be someone returning to uni but now I am sure it was Gransnetter! smile

Blossoming Tue 21-Sept-21 22:47:14

Exactly JJ and what else do they know??

If I didn't see it as a joke, fanny, other people may not either.

A bump to try to get this thread on the active list.

BUMP!

ElderlyPerson Wed 22-Sept-21 10:38:33

Well that did not work, so another bump is needed.
