I popped out to give the dog a quick walk and when I returned it was gone.

????

Galaxy

You cant have an unmoderated site, I have many concerns with regard to social media about who gets to make those decisions, but GN is operating within the society we currently have.

Moderation should be fair, balanced and not a trigger happy reaction.

Smileless2012 Thu 11-Nov-21 13:23:49

An unmoderated site is one thing, but a site that allows the criticism of public figures especially those in political office, to then delete a thread because is was about MM is quite another another.

Someone reported it so perhaps they'd care to enlighten us as to what they found so inappropriate that the thread should be deleted.

Galaxy Thu 11-Nov-21 13:24:24

Unfortunately you and me dont get to decided what is fair and balanced. We would both be wrong in our confidence to decide what is fair and balanced.

Smileless2012 Thu 11-Nov-21 13:28:37

Excellent post maddyone. Unfortunately Galaxy IMO GNHQ aren't always right when it comes to deciding what is fair and balanced.

Maddyone
Nail on head.
those in GNHQ are partisan

Galaxy Thu 11-Nov-21 13:36:17

Yes it's all a big conspiracy. Dear God they will just get through their shift till they can go home, they wont care enough to side with one part of an argument, they are probably bored witless.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 11-Nov-21 13:39:39

Well it wasn’t me. Perhaps MM has spies on here. I

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 11-Nov-21 13:40:32

I was going to say nothing would surprise me.

Alegrias1 Thu 11-Nov-21 13:41:47

Some of the comments I’ve read about politicians are quite disgraceful in my opinion, but the threads are not deleted.

Report them then. See if they get deleted.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 13:44:11

I can’t be bothered Alegrias.
I must be lazy grin

Josianne Thu 11-Nov-21 13:48:22

Good points maddyone. All very strange.

Anniebach Thu 11-Nov-21 13:53:32

So we can criticise the Queen and say she is too old for the job,
we can rain criticism down on Boris and other politicians but
no criticism allowed when Megan Markle apologising for -
inadvertently misleading = telling porkies.

Alegrias1 Thu 11-Nov-21 13:55:06

maddyone

I can’t be bothered Alegrias.
I must be lazy grin

Can't be bothered.

But bothered enough to grumble about how unfair the moderation is.

Did you see the thread maddyone?

25Avalon Thu 11-Nov-21 14:03:50

I got deleted a while back for some indirect remark about Meghan. GN, if I remember rightly said I wasn’t allowed to criticise another woman. Look out for me to be deleted again.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 14:08:30

I did see the thread and added a small comment Alegrias.
Not grumbling, rather passing an opinion. Like we all do on here.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 14:09:36

That’s interesting Avalon. So are posters allowed to criticise a man?

25Avalon Thu 11-Nov-21 14:11:57

Misandry permitted.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 14:13:21

Alegrias I’ve seen a number of comments about a person that some posters call a paedophile. I’m not surprised you reported it although I never have done.

Alegrias1 Thu 11-Nov-21 14:14:24

Thank you for replying maddyone.

OK then. Can't be bothered reporting things you think are disgraceful but happy to pass an opinion on GN's reaction to the reporting of people who can be bothered.

Alegrias1 Thu 11-Nov-21 14:15:25

You might be surprised at who the person was maddyone, maybe you saw it though.

It wasn't a member of the RF.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 14:17:36

Yes, you’re probably right Alegrias. I accept the rough with the smooth. Passing an opinion is what Gransnet is all about. People pass opinions, I might agree or I might disagree. I might think some comments are disgraceful but I wouldn’t bother to report them.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 14:18:26

I probably would be surprised then Alegrias.

maddyone Thu 11-Nov-21 14:20:34

If I think a thread is very heated, I often read but don’t comment. I’m not a great fan of conflict.

Framilode Thu 11-Nov-21 14:23:17

There are two long threads on Mumsnet on exactly the subject that was deleted here. The comments on their threads are far stronger than anything on here and yet they have not been deleted.
Why are we treated like children?

Alegrias1 Thu 11-Nov-21 14:23:55

Shall we have the "opinions versus fact" chat again grin.

Some opinions are bizarre but do no harm.

Some opinions contribute to a concerted hate campaign about people who have no impact whatsoever on the lives of anybody on this forum.

They are the worrying ones. IMO. But anyone is free to disagree wink
