Site stuff

Does this happen to anyone else?

I posted on the decluttering page at 6.52am this morning.
It is not showing up on Active at all.

No great post! So not exactly a big issue.

I see other GNs complain too from time to time about posts going down the list of Active.
It has happened to me on occasion.

But I have never had a post disappear before on Active.

Not sure this needs to be in Site stuff really. But wasnt sure where else to post.

I’ve just posted on Hip & Knee (about hip things, for a change) and it’s 3 quarters down the list again 🙄

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 04-May-23 13:05:26

Ok, well I didn’t opt for the desk top site, although it’s on my IPad which is ‘mobile’?

It seems I have all the options though.

FannyCornforth Thu 04-May-23 13:52:32

Oops if you scroll right down to the bottom of the page you will see the option to switch from Desk Top to Mobile.
The one advantage that the Mobile Site has is the ability to hide threads.
You can hide threads on the mobile one, and then switch back to Desk Top.
This is handy if you want to hide the games threads for instance , and if I’m getting particularly annoyed by a thread, I’ll hide it too smile

Sorry Oops, here is the screenshot

Interesting posts. Thanks.
Think I will make more use of last day and less of Active.

Juliet27 which thread was it.

Doodledog more topics - do you mean "Full forum topics list*?

Farmor15 Thu 04-May-23 15:30:08

Screenshot related to my last post

Farmor15 Thu 04-May-23 15:30:25

I use Gransnet on phone - mobile site - and laptop - desktop site and can get last day and all options on both. There's a dropdown menu on top right of mobile site which gives you the options, apart from 'Active'

Farmor15 Thu 04-May-23 15:31:18

Sorry - posted in wrong order - I'm using both laptop and phone as I wanted to take screenshot on phone!

FannyCornforth Thu 04-May-23 15:36:19

Ah! Thanks Farmor, I know what you mean smile

fancythat Thu 04-May-23 15:39:56

Disclaimer before I write this post[or thread] - it wont be of interest to everyone!

Right now, all the threads over 150 posts,[ and including games ones] are lower than their time of posting would suggest. With the exception of Decluttering. As it happens!

The soop one is way down the Active list. About 2 hours down.

Wow! Excellent sleuthing Fancythat! You are a woman after my own heart.
This really needs to be told to HQ (but I doubt that they will find it as fascinating as us grin)

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 06:24:46

I’ve just noticed that the Happy Birthday Bijou thread is no longer moving, despite having just been posted on.
It was moving fine previously confused

fancythat Fri 05-May-23 06:31:01

Perhaps the figure is 170 when things change?
Or/and if a thread has been running for more than 4 days?

fancythat Fri 05-May-23 06:33:08

Not sure if HQ will want it figured out or not.
Not sure we can do it or not, 100% accurately.
If they dont, perhaps they need to tell us.

Calendargirl Fri 05-May-23 07:08:31

I notice whenever I post on the TV Forum, mainly about Coronation Street, it very rarely goes to the top, usually languishes at the bottom of Active or not visible at all.

BlueBelle Fri 05-May-23 07:16:29

I m not sure what you all mean I look on my news feed and they are all in perfect time order
I always use ‘Last day’ and on iPad desktop

fancythat Fri 05-May-23 07:22:34

Last day do seem to be in perfect time order BlueBelle

I have just posted on the Bijou thread right now.
If you look on Active, it is about 10 posts down.

The poster before me, went in the correct time place on Active.
The post before that did not.

Curiouser and curiouser.

fancythat Fri 05-May-23 07:23:25

And someone else has just posted, and it is in the right time place!

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 07:36:09

As I said yesterday, on the Hip & Knee thread, you seem to have to post three times to get it to shift / appear

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 07:39:24

Here’s a previous thread about it www.gransnet.com/forums/site_stuff/1307253-The-order-of-postings-when-one-has-just-posted

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 07:40:48

And another

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 07:43:21

And another (this one is a bit odd)
www.gransnet.com/forums/site_stuff/1297756-How-do-I-bump-up-threads-as-they-are-showing

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 07:44:45

One more

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 07:46:32

And this is the one that I started.
I thought that threads were being hidden, instead of them just not showing up

This was the email I sent and the reply I received.
It was just over a month ago
