I'd like to think I'm a bit of both! While I love the traditional stories its also good to add the cheekier ones as I love the way my two granddaughters laugh at them and they also think their nannys a bit mad anyway!!!Snuggled under blankets on a wet afternoon is a perfect time to read these!!

Well I think I must be saintly, to the point of being a pain in the neck.
I only like books that are well-written, with proper sentences and the occasional long word thrown in, and a decent story with a bit of a plot , and a moral twist too
Like The Tale of Jemima Puddleduck.
My own DCs favourites were a Ladybird version of Aesop's Fables.
I think children can cope with and understand quite complex sentences at a far earlier age than many children's authors give them credit for, and I dislike much of the pappy children's books which seem to fill the bookshelves these days.
But what do I know - I'm only a grandma and a lifelong book lover.
Naughty with no hesitation. Encouraging the children to strip and dance naked in a downpour would be an example. I loved "the Mole who knew it was none of his business." When I asked my GD recently what she wanted for xmas the answer was "Books, books, books."
Congratulations, nicky! Start checking out the drum sets now, and any musical toy that needs batteries - the endless repetition of 'Ee-I-oh' and 'row, row, row your boat' needs study Duracells!
I'm both - can be naughty or nice depending what is needed!! Meanwhile I am a traditional granny and love the stories I told my children and the ones that my mother shared with me
