English Soccer - Fabio - Terry - Rednapp - What ARE they like?

Am I being unreasonable to think all this is an embarrassment to the English?
Captain of England in trouble - Fabio (and presumably Terry himself) fails to "get" that he needs to step aside until name cleared. hmm Then Fabio, continuing with the theme of not "getting" normal professional behaviour comes out in public to disagree with decision... hmm
Maybe the FA glad to see him go?
And then there is Harry R, getting off his tax charge. Boasting that he does not understand computers or money or even emails and immediately the British press hail him as the hero that will save the England team? hmm
So glad I am a Welsh Rugby supporter and not an English football supporter. grin

All this fuss over chasing a bag of wind - and the money involved! I feel I'm missing a trick here somewhere hmm

Jess.... I know this should be about footy, but I can't not say a big YEEEESSS! (You know what I mean!)
Seems like a bit of a football fix to me (allegedly.... must be careful!) one day Harry is innocent of fraud or whatever, the next day he is being suggested as England manager! HRMPH!

not alluding to events at the Millennium last Sunday are you?
And as for some of the recent embarrassments in NZ...well, shameful.
(Although i do remember a not too distant embarrassment of our own involving golf cart and the M4...
I kind of got the impression that the press were out to canonise rednapp precisely because he had managed to avoid being found guilty...

Oldgreymare Tue 14-Feb-12 18:36:14

As if.....
Golf cart 'incident' pales into significance ...... or am I biased?
Saint Harry.... says he can't 'do sums' hope he's not completely dyscalculic 'else he'll have probs with numbers on shirts, formations ( ah but the latter only involves single numbers so he should be O.K.) etc.

Oldgreymare Tue 14-Feb-12 18:39:59

Crikey... INSIGNIFICANCE..... sorry

Anne58 Tue 14-Feb-12 20:04:53

Forgive shouty type, but I HATE FOOTBALL

Thank you, as you were. (You can take your ear plugs out now.)

JessM Tue 14-Feb-12 20:52:34

I don't hate it (though i might if anyone in this house wanted it on the telly) but I just don't understand the fascination... It is as exciting as watching someone read a book. I can understand that they are enjoying it... but why would i want to watch.

Am I the only person who thinks that big football clubs, like Rangers, being declared bankrupt can only be good for the game in general? Sad that people are losing their jobs but there might be financial reality brought to bear if it happens to a few clubs.

How fantastic it would be to see the clubs find that level where their fans can enjoy a family trip to the match, for a reasonable price, and to be able to treat their children to a replica kit that isn't renewed every season at astronomical prices. Football playes get paid monopoly money and they think they are unimpeachable. It's time to get back to reality, as kitty says. Some pride in their talent, instead of arrogance about what they can get away with, has been long awaited.

Might discourage the others coming up with creative accounting ideas to delay paying £££millions in tax...
They get treated differently to other businesses when they go bust - the priority creditors are other clubs not the exchequer! shock
