Rafel Nadal has just won his first round. smile What a nice man he is.

Andy Murray on court now - I am a fan.

I watch little television as a rule, except for this fortnight which I thoroughly enjoy!

Rafa made a bit of a horlicks of it though didn't he? I enjoyed watching Tsongas (sp?) beat Hewitt of the naff-looking backwards facing baseball cap.

grin

Butter
Watch Nadal closely as he goes through the tournament.
When he loses a set ( he may not though ), and he gets insecure, I think I can see a very unpleasant aura about him.

Hewitt of the backwards facing baseball cap.grin grin

I agree about Nadal, johanna. There's something about him that puts me off.

OCD. But I do like him. Always reminds me of Harry Enfields 'Kevin the teenager'.

Federer and Nadal are my all-time favourites. They play such exciting tennis. I remember Andrew Castle saying that the beginning of Wimbledon is such a buzz as the top tennis players arrive, and being mere mortals they turn up in their Range Rovers and tour buses, but Federer is beamed down on to Centre Court from outer space!

Annobel Tue 26-Jun-12 20:57:20

Andy stormed through that match against Davydenko. Let's hope he continues on this form.

crimson Tue 26-Jun-12 21:09:52

Is that why Rog wears his, somewhat mercuria,l gold trainers.....?

Butternut Wed 27-Jun-12 07:26:34

when Federer is a superb player, isn't he. Not my favourite, but I do admire his outstanding skill, but not his gold applique!
Serena Williams is through, too. What an athlete.

My first year since 1976 not living in Wimbledon! I am going to enjoy this fortnight...no traffic jams, favourite cafes /pubs not crowded out, town centre extra busy with special buses etc etc and I won't feel guilty that I have never been to the tennis despite living within walking distance!

whenim64 Wed 27-Jun-12 15:04:21

Butty yes, amazingly talented, and so is Nadal. If they both end up in the final I don't really mind who wins - it will be a fantastic match smile

I love the Williams sisters, too - such powerful players!

Annobel Wed 27-Jun-12 15:21:52

What a pleasant young woman Heather Watson is - very well spoken in interviews and tough on court. She really seems to be enjoying herself too.

Butternut Wed 27-Jun-12 15:27:55

Isn't it lovely to see the enjoyment of the younger players anno.

ej I can just imagine how Wimbledon is to live in - and can think of no other place that's better than to watch the tennis at home! smile

soop Wed 27-Jun-12 15:35:08

There surely is no tennis player more graceful than Roger, and none more exciting than Raffa...rain has stopped play. That's why I'm on sneaking back to GN. grin

Annobel Wed 27-Jun-12 16:12:34

Now Heather Watson and Laura Robson have a wild card to play doubles in the Olympics. That won't be dull!

NannaB Thu 28-Jun-12 08:34:39

I am a big fan of the other Andy. Roddick who should have won a couple of years ago. Not sure he will progress far this year.

soop Thu 28-Jun-12 10:37:16

Andy Roddick is fab! grin

glammanana Thu 28-Jun-12 11:13:18

Not to interested in the tennis more interested in the sports shorts that the guys wear.grin

Mishap Thu 28-Jun-12 21:02:57

Don't really go for Nadal, and rather hoping that Rossol will knock him out of the contest.

I can do without the unedifying spectacle of him adjusting his genitals and extracting his underwear from his natal cleft. I find his scowl quite menacing. I also disliked the way he barged his opponent whilst heading for the chair. And watching his obsessional ritual with his water bottles is quite disturbing - I want to send for the psychologist, never mind a physiotherapist.

johanna Thu 28-Jun-12 21:14:43

Totally agree mishap
He seems too feral.

whenim64 Thu 28-Jun-12 21:17:05

He really is a lovely young man. It's just that he's been taught to be an aggressor on all levels when on the tennis court. I love watching him smile

Annobel Thu 28-Jun-12 21:32:11

Nadal is rather sweet and modest in interviews. His English has improved a lot since he first came to Wimbledon. He is a lovely mover too, though Federer is even better - he glides across the court, his feet seemingly not quite touching the ground.

whitewave Thu 28-Jun-12 21:33:38

I always think Federa wears nicely cut shorts - don't know anything about tennis though

Annobel Thu 28-Jun-12 22:09:53

Nike does a special Federer outfit - remember that silly blazer?
