Rafel Nadal has just won his first round. smile What a nice man he is.

Andy Murray on court now - I am a fan.

I watch little television as a rule, except for this fortnight which I thoroughly enjoy!

What fantastic tennis again! I don't usually watch the women as I can't stand the grunting, but Serena and Jie have just been amazing.
I feel as though I'm taking root on the sofa grin

Annobel Sat 30-Jun-12 16:10:59

Yes, weren't they, Ella. They even managed to keep me awake...hmm

whenim64 Sat 30-Jun-12 16:52:02

Fabulous tennis. Bit concerned to see Venus looking a bit thin and frail amongst the spectators. I believe she has been quite ill but she says she is fine?

Annobel Sat 30-Jun-12 16:59:12

She has Sjogren's syndrome which sounds rather nasty - another of these auto-immune conditions. I think she's very brave to go on playing in the circumstances.

I'm beginning to enjoy this Murray/Baghdatis match. Baghdatis is a cheeky chappy who is putting some spark into it. Good fun! smile

Mishap Sat 30-Jun-12 21:22:46

Murray is sometimes a bit of a trial to watch as he is so tense and sullen. Baghdatis is a breath of fresh air and they could not be less alike.

Ella46 Sat 30-Jun-12 21:37:05

Just came back for a look at your remarks and the thread had disappeared!

I wish Murray would grow up, he still carries on like an overgrown teenager hmm

specki4eyes Sat 30-Jun-12 21:40:56

Does anyone else think that Tim Henman has become more handsome with maturity? He looked like a schoolboy for years but now, mmm...!

Also I found out who the guy with the cowboy hat is..he's an honorary steward apparently and is responsible for making sure only friends and family are in the players' box. He's been doing it since 1973.

I'm sorry but I'm rooting for Baghdatis - I like his attitude better.

So another late night then!

Grannylin Sat 30-Jun-12 21:49:54

Yes, it's even diverted me from Fifty Shades of Grey Hair!

whenim64 Sat 30-Jun-12 21:58:36

specki I can understand why you are supporting Baghdatis - he's really interesting to watch and he's enjoying himself! smile

My favourite advert at the moment is the Argos one with the aliens playing table tennis. I thought I'd just spotted one of them in the crowd at Wimbledon but it was Andy Murray's mum.

specki4eyes Sat 30-Jun-12 22:05:16

Yes when - exactly!

Just seen Boris - he's in the audience - do you think its something we said?!! smile

John Wayne's the umpire again tonight grin

specki4eyes Sat 30-Jun-12 22:06:55

merlot ! grin

merlotgran Sat 30-Jun-12 22:12:13

I'm possibly doing a grumpy gran thing here but why are there so many children in the centre court during these night matches? There seem to be loads of them this year and most of them are bored/tired/fidgety and probably not the least bit interested.

whenim64 Sat 30-Jun-12 22:28:09

No babysitter merlot*! grin

specki4eyes Sat 30-Jun-12 22:29:50

I know..I personally don't know any little children who would tolerate the intense concentration needed to watch a tennis match - I'm sure they can't be expected to understand the scoring system. Still, at least they're learning that there is a spectator sport which is exciting! Ok I admit it, I hate football!

shysal Sat 30-Jun-12 23:01:53

It's 11pm and AM is serving for the match! Will he do it in time?

shysal Sat 30-Jun-12 23:02:40

Yes!!

crimson Sat 30-Jun-12 23:14:01

I really took to Bahgdatis last year when he played Wimbledon, so was also rooting for him tonight. he is a breath of fresh air, as Mishap said.

whenim64 Sat 30-Jun-12 23:24:35

Great match. I'll look forward to watching Baghdatis again in future

Ella46 Sun 01-Jul-12 08:53:35

That was a great match and I almost wish Baghdatis had won, he was the more exciting player.
It seemed as though he gave up a bit at the end just to get it finished.

Did you see Nastase? shock
What a fruit loop, he looked ridiculous! grin

Mishap Sun 01-Jul-12 18:00:44

Boris Becker gives me the creeps - he is so weird-looking! Presumably that is why he fathered a baby in a cupboard at a party - no need to look at him in the dark!

Jacey Sun 01-Jul-12 18:22:13

Mishap shock really??

I also stayed to watch the match ( have now got to catch up with Spirals via iplayer)

I was also rooting for Baghdatis ...what a breath of fresh air.

Thought one of the commentators had it right when he commented that AM now hadn't got a part of his body that he didn't seem to be having trouble with hmm

Hope Mical recovers from his 2hr last set as he's now against AM

Annobel Sun 01-Jul-12 18:44:12

I gave up watching during the 3rd set when I thought Murray was done for. I wanted to watch Richard II which I had set to record. Just before 11, I decided to finish watching the recording tonight during the football and went over to BBC 1, expecting the tennis to be over. I was just in time to see the last game. What a surprise that was. Andy can really pull it off when he puts his mind to it.

whenim64 Sun 01-Jul-12 18:56:33

ella I always enjoy seeing Nastase at Wimbledon - he was a fabulous player in his time. I don't know what the heck he was wearing! What an oddbod grin
