Not long to go now until the Worlds start. The final places on the team being resolved. It was wonderful to see the Olympic Stadium so packed last weekend. Who are your UK medal hopes this year?

JessM Wed 31-Jul-13 15:19:42

Surely there must be some other athletics fans on GN?
Sorry to hear this afternoon that Jess Ennis-Hill is not going to Moscow cos of her achilles. But pleased to hear that Greg Rutherford is going as he has in the passed been plagued by injuries.

And is anybody else really mystified why Gabby Logan has been given the key role in presenting on the BBC? hmm

JessM Sat 10-Aug-13 06:42:03

Well they have started. In an almost empty stadium in Moscow. Bit different to London.

Isn't it just? This time last year we were buzzing (remember DDiL is a team GB athletics coach? #me showingoffagain!) we were reminiscing about it all last night.

Nevertheless, I hope our lot do well!

The one to watch today is Mo Farah on at 3.55 this afternoon - will he win the 10,000 metres? He is in awesome form, and Olympic champion, but he is the man they will all be trying to beat.

Tegan Sat 10-Aug-13 10:27:35

I thought Gabby was wonderful last year; I loved her late night show with the chart etc. Saw her and the one that does the gold in a new light [even though I've forgotten the other one's name blush].

Mo Farah, well done to you , you are a star !

nanaej Sat 10-Aug-13 19:07:38

Congratulations Mo from me too! Brilliant race.

See Nonu we can agree sometimesgrin

Nonu Sat 10-Aug-13 19:29:04

Yeah right !!!!!

a small x for u . laugh

"big heart , broad shoulders " ??

nanaej Sat 10-Aug-13 19:37:12

Indeed we have! have a wine with mewine!

Fantastic run by Mo. Take it back re Gabby - much more relaxed today. She was covering Diamond League matches and suspect that producer was in her ear maybe.
It was possibly a first - for a while there were three women in the studio, commentating on a major sporting event.
And didn't Denise look stunning.

Nonu Sat 10-Aug-13 20:17:55

Nanaej , very kind , thankyou just a small one for me !!

Today's highlight is the Men's 100m this evening at 18.50. Bolt will win, won't he (as long as he starts this time - false started 2 yrs ago)
But the second and third places are anyones. Our own youngster James Dasaolu even, if he gets through the semis.

JessM Sun 11-Aug-13 08:51:05

Should have said too, our own Sharah Proctor in the long jump on good form.

JessM Sun 11-Aug-13 17:03:35

Goodness me, Paula Radcliffe gets the frock of the day award today. I wonder if she is going to a posh "do" afterwards. Or maybe presenting a medal? Gorgeous. tune in now, even if you are not interested in athletics.
Notice all three of our beautiful and intelligent team have chosen not to wear short tailored dresses after struggling not to show yards of leg while sitting round that tiny table. grin

Tegan Sun 11-Aug-13 18:24:25

Got it on now; I understand that we dropped the baton in the relay again either this weekend or last? Why does this keep happening??

JessM Sun 11-Aug-13 18:35:25

i don't think there have been any relays in this championship. Thinking of anniversary games? Men's 100 m was it? I have hopes of the womens 4x400.
Do you like paula's frock?? Doesn't she look lovely?

JessM Sun 11-Aug-13 18:38:13

Wow 5th World gold for Debaba in the 10m. She is an all-time great.

Oldgreymare Sun 11-Aug-13 19:00:50

Got it recorded Jess ready to watch whilst having supper on trays.... how slutty is that?
Will look out for the frock!
Colin Jackson is a poppet and always dresses well, do you think the gals are following his example?
Super's ready..... here we go........

JessM Sun 11-Aug-13 19:05:58

Undoubtedly the Gabby, Denise, Colin and Paula line up is the best looking and best dressed studio commentary team in the history of the universe.
Come on lurkers - you can join the fashion commentary even if you don't know a thing about athletics.
Question: am i being unreasonable to think false eyelashes on the track is a bit over the top?
Question: which team do you think have the best designed kit?

tanith Sun 11-Aug-13 19:06:09

Debaba is in a class all of her own isn't she? I thought Paula's frock was a very odd choice if I'm honest it would look more at home at a cocktail party.

Nonu Sun 11-Aug-13 19:12:36

Well done Usain , a good all round chap .

Tegan Sun 11-Aug-13 19:13:25

When we're oop north Brendan Foster sometimes goes jogging past the flat [he's not very fast these days].

Oldgreymare Sun 11-Aug-13 22:26:58

Compared with/to (not sure which at this time of night) the fashionistas, Brendan Foster looks like an old farmer ( no offence to farmers).
Anyway they all sound better than David Coleman he of the Coleman balls! I still remember him combing his hair with a nasty little plastic comb before a piece to camera at the White City.... we were there to watch Lilian Board and David Bedford.... remember them?
