Not a bad start, I had Sennockian Star in the first race, came in first at 14/1, but I got 16/1. Didn't do all races, did Sheila's Buddy in the 4.50, no luck there. Have got 2 in the 5.20.

Huge stakes, 10p e/w!

I know there are other racing ladies out there!

I don't, actually Tegan, but might give it a go!

Just a thought, maybe not for this meeting, but us racing ladies could always have a go at some sort of fantasy betting! I used to this with a work colleague for the Cheltenham meeting. We would take it in turns to choose a horse each from each race. Then we would score points, 3 for a first, 2 for a second, 1 for a third. At the end of the meeting the loser would have to buy the cakes!

I always pick different horses in competitions to the ones I'd put money on; never quite worked out the difference. The good thing about racing radio is you can hear all of the later races. Also jockey club races are shown on video after the races [although I'm not sure which tracks are jockey club ones]. Getting nervous about Brown Panther running; I love that horse!

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 15:05:57

Nothing in the 2.05, I had Braidley, which came 4th sad bit better in the 2.35, I had Louie de Palma, 2nd @ 20/1 smile

I like Brown Panther too, but haven't backed it!

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 15:11:47

I have a feeling about Forgotten Voice, but again, haven't backed it!

Tegan Thu 31-Jul-14 15:26:25

I've done my dough so many times over the years on Cavalryman and the year that I give up on him is the year he starts winning. Was told years ago that the secret to him was soft ground [methinks not]. Ante post bet on the Melbourne Cup on it's way for me. He must be older than me confused....

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 15:52:25

I had Groovejet @50/1, looked like she was going to make the frame at one point.

Hope Missunited is ok.

sad

Tegan Thu 31-Jul-14 16:06:27

Same here; took all the enjoyment out of the day. She did seem to be walking sounder after a while though. Fingers crossed.

..suspensary ligament damage. No fracture [phew]; off to the paddocks and babies. What a brave, brave mare [going to have a bit of a blubber now].

Nonu Thu 31-Jul-14 16:30:04

Well I suppose ONE is better than nothing!!

I also hope Missunited is okay. That Michael Winters is a real character, although I could hardly understand what he was saying, I loved it where they showed the shot of him watching it on the Big Screen and how excited he was!

Mr N did okay, although if Stella had won he would have had a Yankee.
He saw Cavalryman win at Newmarket the other week.

Glad Missunited is sort of ok.

Nonu I too struggled to understand what he was saying, but his sheer joy needed no translation!

Tegan I completely understand what you said in your post of 14.46 re. picking different horses in competitions to those that you might actually back.

At our Saturday Racing Club, (stake £1 per race, whoever has first takes the pot, if no-one has first then it goes to whoever has second, this then goes to third place but if no-one has that, then it's a rollover, which causes much excitement!) I will often pick a horse that I wouldn't actually bet on because the odds didn't suit my e/w habit!

Now, who's got what in the 4.50?

Tegan Thu 31-Jul-14 16:49:31

Shot in the Sun [very quick glance at the card...]

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 16:50:09

Wow, I've backed that!

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 17:06:48

Errrm, moving swiftly on!

5.25????

Nonu Thu 31-Jul-14 17:19:46

BON CHANCE!

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 17:38:08

Must have missed that one Nonu , whose the trainer? grin

Nonu Thu 31-Jul-14 17:56:29

You are a saucy one, but I LIKE you !!

grin

Anne58 Thu 31-Jul-14 18:30:21

grin

Well, not my best day, down overall, but never mind. Not sure about tomorrow, have a dentist appointment at 11.55, will try to get a paper before that and see what we fancy.

Nonu can't be doing with Yankees and all that malarkey, my nerves wouldn't stand it, much happier with straightforward single bets!

Tegan Thu 31-Jul-14 19:03:46

I flirted with accumulators earlier this year but gave up quite quickly.

Nonu Thu 31-Jul-14 19:07:04

PHO I am the same . however he seems to have nerves of steel !
grin

Good afternoon Ladies, what is on your racecards for today?

I fancy Pethers Moon in the 1.55, but haven't backed it as the odds are too short.

Tegan Fri 01-Aug-14 14:05:27

Had a quick look last night but nothing has leapt out at me.

Anne58 Fri 01-Aug-14 14:43:22

I see I was right about Pethers Moon! I didn't actually back anything in either the 1.55 or the 2.30, as you say Tegan nothing at the right sort of odds really appealed.

Got a couple in the 3.05, so will see what happens there.

Nonu Fri 01-Aug-14 16:20:32

Good afternoon ladies , right, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is I had Pethers Moon, in 1.55
.
The bad news is Captain Cat, 3.05 , Tropical 3.40. Both scratched
.
Sooo no money from either of them, could look at it from a different angle haven't lost my money. So I will make my stake money for tomorrow!!

smile

Anne58 Fri 01-Aug-14 16:30:18

Well done Nonu , what odds did you get?

Nothing for me so far, but then, after the good run I had the other day, I'm not surprised.

Got a couple of others later, and 2 "Jacks" at other meetings, so all is not (yet) lost!

Can't believe I didn't do Red Avenger, "reds" are some that I usually back, also "tigers" and "champagnes"

Oh well, there's always tomorrow..........

Nonu Fri 01-Aug-14 17:28:42

11-10.

We have tomorrow to look forward to as you say and you will possibly have Mr P by your side [does he enjoy the racing?]
