Warner Bros Discovery holds the main Olympics rights in the UK - and have since 2020 - with the BBC sub-licencing from the broadcaster.

So the Beeb is not responsible for the filming, or the sound quality. And it means that it is limited in what it can show live, and how many channels/streams it can have. There will be 1 digital and either BBC1 or 2, compared to 24 digital + TV in 2012.

I thought bits of the ceremony were amusing/clever, but I’m not sure how well it translated to TV overall.
