Crocs (and Uggs)

I cannot help but admire these companies for selling such simply constructed footwear at such huge markups. A triumph of marketing (and probably some luck somewhere e.g. Kate Moss wearing their products). I have never bought either apart from some discounted ones for GKds.
We now have a Crocs shop. £35 for a pair of shoes that must cost pennies to make. About £25 for kids ones. shock
They have them in Costco for a tenner less if anyone is thinking of buying some. And I guess there is still a generous markup on that price.

Were those the 'Cornish Pasty' shoes, Lilygran?
I make no apology for buying most of my shoes from Hotter. They are comfortable and fit me well. They are also made in Britain which has to be a plus point for them.

Comfort has to come first for shoes. I see Sarah Jessica Parker is complaining about her ruined feet from wearing very high heels too much. hmm

And Clarkes won't let me step into their photo machine thing to measure my feet. Don't think they are the same size and width any more.

I remember those pasty-shaped Clarks shoes, lily. I had some in the late seventies. Loved them. Called them my Florence shoes after Florence on The Magic Roundabout.

Clarks are now making something similar again. My friend has some.

Thanks, Bags, I'll visit the usual sites now I know they are out there. Live in Nikes at the moment.

Love the expression pasty-shaped shoes. It reminds me of what a student at school said when trying to describe one of the English teachers "She wears those shoes that look like hovercraft"!!
Or indeed one of my bookclub friends when trying to remember the name of her Birkie clogs, said "You know, those lesbian shoes"

I've got a pair of Crocs flip flops that came from ebay. Wouldn't be seen out in them but they are very comfortable smile

Are Crocs too synthetic to wear in really hot weather? I get very painful feet that are worse in hot weather. I've also got Raynaud's so they're bad cold weather.confused

I always thought crocs were a gimmick until I bought a pair myself (genuine ones) bright yellow.

Good in hot or cold weather. I like them because I seem to slip over at the slightest provocation and these are nice and grippy. I won't walk upstairs in slippers, so I have a pair of these in doors and for walking in the garden and when I want to go upstairs I just kick them off.

We have a caravan and I have a cheapy pair in there to walk to the shower block, again easy on, easy off.

Wouldn't be without mine.

Overthehill,thankyou

Great minds and Gransnetters obviously think alike. I saw some lovely sandals on a friend yesterday that she said she were Crocs bought on line. Your post has reminded me to look at the site. I'm not too sure about buying shoes by post but I'll give it a go!

I prefer my berkenstocks. I wear them indoors and out from Spring to Autumn.

I've just bought some boots online; second pair I've bought. First pair had to be returned but it was free postage and all I had to do was put the sticker on and send them back to the P.O. Latest pair are perfect and I'm going to buy more from the company.
