I Have to admit that at this time of the year I DO like a bright lipstick.
think it gives one a lift . My colour at the moment is Estee Lauder, "Fireball"
Which might give you an indication of my taste .

Nonu Thu 05-Dec-13 19:51:01

I too Nonu have just bought a brighter lipstick. I have very thin lips and I've yet to find a lipstick that actually stays on for any length of time although I powder my lips after the first application and then put on another layer. I've tried Avon, Boots No 7. Rimmel, Clarins and Barry M so far recently. Apart from using emulsion paint has anyone any suggestions please?

goldengirl - you might like to try Max Factor 'lipfinity'. I only put it on once and it lasts all day. Also Maybelline 'super stay 24hr' is another long lasting lip colour which I can recommend. Hope that helps smile

Estée Lauder double wear lipstick - it has colour one end, and gloss the other. It really does stay put, and I haven't used anything else since I discovered it. The one called something like Flaming Fuschia is lovely and bright!

Lipfinity does work, but I find it makes my lips very dry.

Having very thin lips, which are getting thinner confused. I put a very thin film of foundation on first and the use Clinique High Impact Extreme Pink which is quite a strong colour. I find it lasts well. Red lipstick scares me and, I'm sure, would terrify anyone who met me while I was wearing it! grin

I also love Extreme Pink Kitty. I have also discovered Candy Yum Yum by Mac. To be used sparingly, it can be quite scarily neontchsmile

I don"t use a bright "RED" as such it is slighty more corrally , which suits my skin tone .
I have to say though I have bought cheaper lipsticks , i.e £1 a time but it is a truisim you get what you pay for . They don"t last , suppose the more expensive use finer quality ingredients !!!
Still heyho I still like my BRIGHT lipsticks at this TIME of year !tchsmile tchsmile

I am currently using Estée rubelite lasting shimmer (when I bother, which isn't often)

Deedaa Fri 06-Dec-13 21:24:29

I think some of the dyes they used years ago were a lot more permanent, but probably not very good for you.

Soutra Fri 06-Dec-13 22:00:12

I have never felt the same about lippy since reading The Naked Ape - baboons (and other primates with brightly colured genitals ) eat your heart out.

janeainsworth Fri 06-Dec-13 22:27:33

Really, Soutra!
shock

Soutra Fri 06-Dec-13 22:40:25

goldengirl Sat 07-Dec-13 12:34:23

blush I don't think I'll be looking at lipsticks in quite the same way again!!! Soutra but I will take the suggestions on board re: types that last. I shall enjoy scaring people grin

glammanana Sat 07-Dec-13 12:54:12

Lipfinity working well for me at the moment and I use a mid pink shade most of the time as I suit the colour,I must confess to having a very large stock of lipsticks in every make I don't feel as though I am treating myself if I don't come back from a shopping trip without one tchblush

Nonu Sat 07-Dec-13 13:00:49

GLAM , you deserve it !!
I must admit I also have a large collection !! smile

Soutra Sat 07-Dec-13 13:16:27

Oh Desmond Morris - what would you say to that ............

MiceElf Sat 07-Dec-13 13:30:21

Is it curated and cataogued, Nonu?

nightowl Sat 07-Dec-13 13:31:27

I must admit that when I look at some of the trout pouts worn by many celebrities I can't help thinking of Desmond Morris and baboons. Wearing a vulva on your face is NOT a good look in my opinion.

Ariadne Sat 07-Dec-13 13:48:52

I only occasionally wear lipstick, and then a fairly neutral shade, which I then completely forget to re-do. Red seems a very harsh shade.

annodomini Sat 07-Dec-13 13:54:23

I have plenty of them, but usually forget to put one on. I prefer a light coral colour, if I do wear it. Red would make the rest of my face fade away by contrast.

janeainsworth Sat 07-Dec-13 17:01:41

I can't wear dark lipsticks, they just don't suit me.
I'm using Clinique Longlast Glosswear at the moment, it is supposed to make your lips look fuller than they really are. I think it does this by making them so sticky that they don't sort of fall in in quite the same way when your mouth is at rest wink
The colour ("Fireberry") is a bit darker than my natural colour, so combined with the glossy effect it looks slightly better than au naturel without being too much for the rest of my face.
