Dee's post on the knickers thread www.gransnet.com/forums/style_and_beauty/1219361-Now-that-weve-discussed-the-comfy-bra-what-about-the-knickers made me think - does anyone match their bra and their knickers? I use to back in the day but now we've been married for decades it hasn't even crossed my mind! blush

Nope......knickers in one drawer (cotton, M&S, boring but comfortable) bras & camisole /slip thingies in a heap in another.smile

I don't even put them in a drawer - all my underwear is piled up on a stool in my bedroom and I just grab what I need. The reason for this is that I once slipped a disc trying to open an underwear drawer and I vowed "Never again."

I match mine- I feel better that way. It is generally white and so isn't difficult.

I don't have to make any effort to match my underwear. I buy bra and knicker sets.

Ana Fri 02-Oct-15 22:21:37

Those of us who have problems finding bras that fit properly can't just buy bra and knicker sets. Sometimes a compromise has to be reached - must admit I don't really care as long as both fit properly!

Nothing matches although I look longingly at the M&S sets. Sadly the knickers are always too skimpy for my derrière. sad

NotTooOld Fri 02-Oct-15 22:39:32

Exactly - if the bra fits, the knickers don't - and vice versa. They should make mix and match sets. Does that make sense? confused

The catalogues such as FiftyPlus, Yours, Fashionworld etc do mix and match sets. That's where I buy mine as my bra size doesn't match my bum size.

Most places do mix n match. Figleaves have a 20% off offer at the moment. I have a few nice matching sets from Primark which are fine for everyday.

Heck, I have enough trouble managing my time without factoring in matching tops to bottoms. We're all different but for me life is just too short to make a priority.....! Bottoms are mostly black m and s cheapest, bras are whatever I can find that's comfy, in a mixture of light, bright and dark to accommodate different tops. So long as it fits and does the job I'm a happy bunny.

But having read all these posts, I will looking at all my friends and wondering.....maybe I should do a short survey...grin

Update on the short survey. Staying at our son's, just asked my lovely daughter in law - turns out she is definitely a confirmed and aspiring matcher...who knew!!!

On the topic of underwear. I HATE wearing under wired bras,
for me they are so uncomfortable!! Could anyone give any
information where I can buy a T shirt type, padded,
lacy and feminine bra!!!! It's quite a challenge, I have been
on the Internet, with no luck....All I can find is the very plain
white ones!!!!!

I am sure there are others out there that find under wired bras
so uncomfortable. There seems to be a gap in the market here!!

Meersbrook123 Sat 03-Oct-15 13:06:05

Thanks for that PenJK50. What a good idea.

Charleygirl Sat 03-Oct-15 15:06:51

I have never matched knickers with a bra in my life. I prefer coloured knickers but white or cream bras. I like non wired, unpadded but plain bras but they are a rarity so I have returned to wearing lacy ones which I do not like but they are comfortable.

Matching knickers and bra is my treat to myself. DH now gives me vouchers for presents so I can go to my favourite lingerie shop and spend them! There are so many gorgeous bras and knickers around that it seems a shame to limit the selection to black or white.

Coolgran65 Sat 03-Oct-15 18:23:55

I can only wear underwired bras because my size is 36GG. Standard back size but big of boob.
There's just not enough support without the wire to get them 'up and forward'. My bras are very comfy as long as they are properly fitted in the first place. At the last fitting the assistant and I worked our way through about 12 different bras/styles, none of them right. Then she got the senior fitter to help..... down back sizes....up cup size...balcony no good as straps are set too far apart...... sports bra no good as it looked like one monoboob.... eventually success. Great service for a £30 sale.

Like you, Hologram, I wear underwired 36G and find I can match bras and knickers from M and S quite easily. I also have quite a few matching sets and keep them in a drawer in order of light to dark. White, cream, lilac, light blue, dark blue and black - just looking at them makes me feel good!

I like my underwear to match and then vaguely match it to whats on top.
I never have more than half a dozen sets of underwear at once, wear and wash them frequently, which means they soon wear out and can be replaced.

DM wore lacy underwear, pretty night dresses and was a snappy dresser until she died in her late 80s. I intend to do the same (about dressing, not dying)

Have an assortment of different coloured bra and knickers always matching

mcem Tue 20-Oct-15 20:46:49

Buy matching sets, wear and wash matching sets, fold and put away matching sets - not much organising needed. Undies more or less coordinate with outfits.
White, cream, nude, pink, pale blue, pale green, navy, purple, grey, black plus several extra white and black sets.

cornergran Tue 20-Oct-15 22:09:41

Summed up my approach beautifully mcem just feels wrong not to. smile
